Anyone ever hear of Pilot airplane kits?Who made them and when?I see one on E-bay and know nothing about them-anyone?

Pilot Kits were high quality (for their time) kits that were made in Japan. They carry a premium price now, especially for the larger 1/4-scale examples. Sadly their factory burned many years ago and they ceased production. Their brand was resurrected under another name for a while maybe 8-10 years ago, but that too is now gone. If you like kit building and the subject model you probably won't go wrong in buying one.

Pilot was just one of the brands handled by Hobby-Shack of Fountain Valley Calif. years ago. Most of the kits that I saw were rather simplestic. H-S became the new Hobby People of today.

The Pilot scale kits were works of art when built correctly. A 1 to 3.7 scale Christen Eagle and very large Diabolo are two that come to mind and were excellenct in performance as well. The upper level kits were pretty expensive even then and should command an even greater price now. They had a budget line of kits that flew quite well. The budget kits were comparatively more expensive than equally sized Midwest kits of the time.

Pilot kits are manufactured by OK Models in Japan. After the factory fire production of all kits ceased, but eventually they started producing smaller sized kits again.

The Seduction range of 3D aircraft are excellent kits, all laser cut using very high quality wood.
