AM and FM RADIOS
Can anyone help me? I would like to know if can use 2 radios one FM and other Am with the same frequence, like 72.550 ?
How long is the alcance of AM Radios? Thanks, Luis Moreira |
RE: AM and FM RADIOS
You cannot use an FM(PPM) transmiter with a AM Receiver or vice versa. If that is what you mean. Do not understand what your second question is or what alcance means.

does he mean distance?

RE: AM and FM RADIOS
Alcance means range. No difference between AM and FM. Main reason most radios are now based on FM is they are cheaper to build.

RE: AM and FM RADIOS
no you cannot use an AM radio the same time as an FM radio on the same frequency.

Sorry, means RANGE.

RE: AM and FM RADIOS
Hi John, what i want to say is :
Next to place that i fly with my airplanes , exist a lake that some people use Sail Boats, these people use AM Radios with 72 Mhz frequence, so i think it can cause a interference in airplanes. |

If this lake is within about 5 km, you should work out a frequency sharing arrangement, or use a different frequency, or one of the newer 2.4 GHz units. Good luck, Dave Olson |

Yes as jetmech and scar has stated. If the boats and the airplanes are using the same frequency it makes no differance if they are Am or not. If you are FM they will interfere with each other. I remember that situation well many years ago at whittier narrows in los angeles. Everyone was on just a few frequencys of 27mHz and the boats a half mile away caused fits. |
RE: AM and FM RADIOS
Jetmech05 answered the guy correctly as he asked the question. Just because the modulation method is different, the carrier is the same so no, you cannot use an AM and an FM radio of the same frequency at the same time. Now after reading the 2nd post by lmoreira, I noticed he's in Brazil. I don't know what your regulations are for frequencies down there but here in the states, anyone using surface vehicles should be using surface frequencies which are 75 MHz not 72.
