Decals For Zirolli Corsair
I have just about completed my zirolli 94 inch W.S. CORSAIR, and to make it a ww-2 f4u-1 navy corsair the stars and bars that go on the wing abe big . THE ONE ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT WING STRETCHES FROM ALMOST THE TIP OF THE AILERON TO HALF OF THE FIRST FLAP SECTION . The length is almost half of the left wing section. Where can i get decals for this at a resonable price , where i dont have to mortgage the house to get them? Thanks Tom [email protected]

Tom,
If you have painted your model, I'd go ahead and mask it off and paint the stars and bars on yourself. Do the entire outline in white first, let dry. leaving the tape on you already have add tape over top and (carefully with a sharp blade) cut out for the blue. then spray that and remove all your tape. couple hints, first when you spray on your white, do a very very light dusting the first couple times. this will help prevent the paint from bleeding under the tape. in fact all paint you put on should be in light coats of course to prevent runs. second, if you go with a cheap masking tape (as wide as you can find) it is pretty transparent and you will be able to see where you already have the white to assist you when you draw for the blue. Now, if you don't want to paint your corsair, and have finished it in another manner, contact one of your local sign shops that cuts out vinyl lettering, etc and see if they would cut you the white and blue....or atleast sell you a couple feet of each and you can cut it yourself, drawing on the back as a guide. Just some thoughts, good luck! |

Thanks SEAN I have been thinking about doing just what you suggested . I hae already painted the cartoon figure hairless joe on my p-47, and the POLISH EAGLE on my spitfire , so i may just do what you are suggesting . i think i will try a test run first on something to see how it turns out. Thanks Again Tom

No problem Tom,
You can also start with the one on the bottom of the wing as well for extra practice. :) |
