Y pushrod

I am looking for a Y pushrod for two elevator halves on my Hobbico Extra. Tower hobbies doesn't have one. Do I have to make my own? Is there some type of system other than a y pushrod?? Thanks

I have done it several ways. One is to join the metal pushrods near the servo with two wheel collars.

A second way is to use a wooden pushrod with two pieces of wire lashed to the end of it. You will have to make several bends in the wire to get outside the fuselage.

Third way is to join the two elevator halves with a dowel passing through the fuselage. The dowel must be in line with the hinge point. In this case, you only use one control horn and one pushrod.

Method one keeps the rods straight and slop free. Method three saves the weight of the second rod but is not quite as strong.

Greenboot gave you three ways, then there's always seperate servos for each half.

The easiest in my opinion is a homemade "Y" pushrod.

Here's a quick sketch.

Thanks alot guys. In the sketch, it says thread and ca. Should I get 2 4-40 12 inch rods, thread them in and ca? How big should the dowel be, if I thread both in I don't want to weaken the wood? Thanks for the help

4-40 rods should be okay. I'd just make sure that my hole doesn't remove more than 1/2 the wood diameter. And although I've used CA, I've also used epoxy and it might be a better choice.

Oh, and notice too that the dowel should be grooved so that the rods sit down into it about 1/2 their diameter. Helps prevent side to side movement.

Groove the dowels, and put the holes for each half at least an inch away. That way you won't have a weak spot in the dowel.

Or buy a Dave brown carbon fiber pushrod and use the 2 pushrod insert.
