Tilted vertical fin, will that hurt.

I put together a LT 40 and to make a long story short the vertical fin is about 3/16 tilted to the right at the top. Will this hurt the flying of the plane, or will trim be adequate to compensate for this. Or for that matter will it make enough difference, that I should just cut it off and redo it. ? JW

IT will fly ok just remember to next time use a square of some type. YOu could cut the fin loose and straighten it up and then use some 3 cornered stock to epoxy the tail and fuse together straight.

I wouldn't mess with it. You probably won't notice it. Not a huge deal on that plane.

I agree with fly boy. I had the same problem with my horizontal fin. I fixed it however it still flys the same. However with the lt40 has a weak vertical fin. I have seen it break off in mid-air. 3 corner stock could give the fin some extra strength. well good luck!

In any plane that "is" sensitive to this condition, trimming will work, but only for that particular speed your flying. As the speed increases or decreases your trim will have to change accordingly.

On a trainer, you will not see that difference in flying.
Enjoy your plane!

I agree with Brandon16. Although the LT-40 is a great plane, the verticle stab joint is weak. I have seen 2 break in mid air. Use the triangle balsa on each side of the joint as was suggested. Also, don't worry about the angle, it will fly OK.......Seaplane
