Fuel Starvation
 

Can anyone help me,
I'vejust had my plane repaired following a minor error of judgement.
The guy who fixed it for me altered my fuel tank from two connections to three. This was to save me time when refueling.
I now find that after about 2-3 mins of running my motor stops.
I've checked for air leaks and can't find any.
When running the plane on the ground I can clearly see it sucking air through. I have checked the glunk and it's at the bottom of the tank and covered with fuel.

Has anyone any advice.

rc.cop ... If you are seeing air in your fuel lines, there has to be a leak somewhere. Try installing zip ties on al of your fuel line fittings, and triple check that there are no pin-holes in any of the fuel lines. Also, what are you using to plug your filler line? It could be the source of air, but usally that will only effect pressure in the tank.

Your most likely culprit is the extra line added to the tank. I suspect it is not sealed and therefore prevents the tank from getting pressurized enough. Try to plug (simply use a screw) to cap the extra line and see if that helps.

Are you sure the carb is connected to the clunk line. Sounds like it may be running till it gets below the vent line. Take the carb line off. Put a piece of brass tubing and a couple of feet of fuel line on it and blow on it and see which line the bubbles are coming from.

there doesn' have to be a leak. If the guy who altered it hard mounted it to the fuselage, it is absormiubg vibrations in the plane causing your fuel to foam. That will give you airbubbles.

Thank you to all that replied to my fuel starvation.
I've solved the problem by fitting a new tank and ensuring it is well softened in the fuselarge. :)
