DX7 Binding issues with eletric plane
 

new to Dx7 & eletric but not to rc and having some problems with my Dx7 .
I succesfully bound my model at home 55" span plane -2200 lipo .
So the procedure as explaned to me due to the eletric nature -after is was successfully bound
1)at field turn on radio
2)plug in lipo battery to power plane
3)plane should be bound ...
It seems that I have to unplug the lipo , and turn off the radio about 3 to 4 times to get it to bind at the field ???
I am missing something ? do I need to press the bind button on the back of the plane when turning it on at the field the plug the battery into the plane .
If I plug the lipo in first , I could have dangerous results where a signal hit the plane and start the throttle ect , so I always turn on transmitter first .
again wierd because its takes about 3 or4 attempts to get it in bind mode.
Also when done flying perhaps the clue is in my method of shutting the plane down I land , disconnect the power battery to the plane then turn the radio off would that confuse the receiver

Your procedure is correct. Transmitter first, then receiver. And shut down is correct, reciver , then transmitter.

After you have your plane setup and operating, re bind the receiver again. Same as initial startup , with plug, etc.

Also, we have found that if the transmitter is around or setting on metal, it will not bind. Such as metal bleachers or a metal lawn chair. Get it away from the metal and no problems.

Thos are a couple of things we have discovered. But, rebinding has solved your problem here.

Steve , this is whats wierd . I am flying a cheap A10 with a 2.4 that came with the plane from Nitro RC , plastic and cheap , binds every time when I turn on the transitter .
The Dx 7 and its price tag goes thru this game /????
I am wondering based on your comments if the elc is causing a problem because it touches the smaller receiver

Just a thought, but you did remember to remove the bind plug after you initially bound the rx?

Also if the tx is too close the the rx, it sometimes won't bind. And try turning on the tx and give it a minute to find it's two open frequencies, before powering up rx.

I have a 2.4 heli that if I try hooking up the rx right after turning on the tx it sometimes won't bind.

yes , removed the bind plug but good thought none the less .
I will try to turn on the trans then wait to power up the RX and report back

I normally try to have nothing touch the receiver . I don't know if the esc proximity is having an effect or not.

It might be that you just have a bad receiver.

Always wait until the transmitter starts broadcasting before turning on the receiver.

Take the receiver out of the plane and try binding it on your work bench to check the installation.

Just to be clear, there's binding and linking.

Binding is the process of having the receiver memorize the GUID of the transmitter.

Linking is when you turn the system on and it establishes and RF connection.


Keep the transmitter atleast a foot or two away from the plane while its linking and as someone else said, metal in the area can cause reflections which will give you problems with the linking process. Last, some of those radios its easy to inadvertently have the binding button depressed while its hanging or sitting on something, make sure thats not happening.

I agree with binding and linking. I still think he needs to rebind the receiver. I've seen quite a few situations where rebinding solves the failure to link problem.

I appreciate the definition , however remember I re-binded at home , prior to going to the field , and could not get it to "link" at the field .
I think I will try the distance suggestion(at the field ) However having to re-bind at home every time prior to flying would be crazy .
Remember , no medal at my field , my car is 50 yards away , no bleechers , no cans , bottle caps ect , all free , just grass and me and the planes .
And why does one system work flawlessly vs another ? if it was external surrounding would it not impact both 2.4 signals?

Hold the radio at arms length. Try that first.

Keep the RCVR away from the ESC. 2.4 is not immune to interference.

I have a Spektrum AR7000 receiver with the remote antenna connected. It sometimes fails to link but the weird part is the remote always links. The main receiver LED will not be lit but the remote LED lights up every time. I don't have it mounted in anything right now and to be honest, I doubt if I will since I don't want to lose a plane to a flakey receiver. Any of you ever experience this?

You just have a bad reveiver. Send it in for service.

I was having about the same thing happen to me, and foung out that my battery was bad.Put a good battery in and presto! worked.
