New to 2.4 buying on R/C

I'm an occasional flier and found that my Futaba 72 mhz radio was shot. Sent it in for eval and maybe repairs. Then I found out that at least one of my receivers is also not responding. Frustrating. Don't know if all the recent heat and humidity finally got to the electronics.
Looked into going to 2.4. I have the samp problem as many pilots; 4 planes needing 4 receivers. I see some great looking adds on R/C Universe selling used transmitters. Are these actaully as good as advertised? I would love to be able to just send my credit card to Tower and tell them "fix it!"
Any consensus?

Switch to 2.4 NOW! It's a good time to make the transition, especially if your having trouble with your old stuff. No more interference, try Spektrum, seems to be much cheeper now.

I use Spektrum myself, but going to 2.4 with them Futaba, Airtronics or Hitec is a good way to go. No Freq. pin issues or shootdowns possible.

Unless you want to move and reprogram Rx's you will need to buy one per plane however. This can add up but you get benefits like having your trim settings saved digitally so you don't need to retrim after a slider moves.

As far as buying used stuff, I'd rather buy this kind of item from someone at my field rather than a seller on RCU or Craigslist, but that's just a personal preference of mine.

You may want to check out HobbyCity. They have some 2.4 radios that extra receivers don't cost a fortune.

The Hitec Optic 6 channel series is not too expensive. Look with a search engine on the Internet or go to Tower Hobbies

Where I fly, Spectrum is the most popular but no one likes the 5 channel. Everyone has the seven channel.

You will be sorry if you do not make the change now. Waiting will only compound problem ten fold literally.

Right now Hitec has them all beat for the moment with the best bang. And beleve me I will never agine purchase any system without telemetry.

Started with five XPS and now have just completed my 29th changeover to Hitec seven channels.

I now have only one airplane that is not 2.4 and that is a vintage RC airplane on 27.

See what I mean you will be sorry if you wait:D
