Radio System for 102"
I'm putting my 102" Yak together and need some advice on how best to set up radio system. I'm using a JR 10X with 8 8611A servos.
I'm trying to decide if I should go with two receivers and batteries or just one. Would there be any power issues with just one receiver?
Also, how are the JR 2000 receivers performing? I have a couple of the JR945 receivers I could use but would buy the 2000 if they are more reliable.
What size batteries (NiMh) are most folks using on this plane for a one or two receiver setup?
Thanks,
Dave Burton

RE: Radio System for 102"
Hello Dave,
One receiver would be just fine. Quique and I both are running R2000. Running two batteries would be your decision. I have two planes, one I am running one receiver and one battery, the other is a redundant system with Duralite SC-12 powerbox.
As far as batteries go I rather use Li-Ion than NIMH.
Check out some videos of my plane at www.rcmodelaviator.com the plane I am flying is running one R2000, one Duralite 4300 and one receiver. Can you say I am lacking any current to the servos
Thank you,
Reza

Dave , give me a call and I will send pictures of my set-up . I am using one battery and one reciever. I have flown this set -up since last year with no problems. Hope this one doesn't run away from home like the last yak !!! TERRY

Dave, if you choose nimh's, go with something like dual 1400mah 5 cell packs for the receiver with dual HD switches and a 4-cell for the ignition and you will be fine. It will be good for 4-5 flights easy. I don't run the nimh's in my big stuff, but I have that exact setup in a 50cc plane that works fine.

One for Aileron if you use one JR matchbox. 2 Elevator, one rudder, one throttle so 5 channel.
Or you can use a matchbox on your elevator and end up wih 4 channel.
Thank you,
Reza

For those without 10 channel receivers, a power expander is a great option. It will allow you to use MUCH less channels, while still ensuring the servos are properly powered.
