Hey Guys it's back this year with a new name and some new dates.

The San Fernando Valley Flyers, with the advice of Mitch Kahn has removed the Labor Day heli event from the 2008 schedule. The reasons for this are several fold. Among them, people have had problems with family conflicts during the holiday weekend, and the last few years have been brutally hot in LA in late August.

Have no fear though, out of the ashes, we are looking to start a brand new event called "LA 3-D Helicopters" - First annual.

What we are looking to do is go back to the events we were having some years ago. Tons of vendors, cool tee shirts, lots of flying, noon-time demos, just a few fun contests and piles of raffle prizes.

This years demos will be no longer than 1 hour, so lots of open flying all weekend. Contests will be run with no impact to open flying as well. We have a huge electric charging station capable of handling some of the larger packs for 10 and 12S, so bring out those E-Heli's and save your car batteries!!

I would like to thank everyone who has stepped up to helping out with this event, and a personal thanks to Bert Magbanua for taking over as the CD and helping bring this event back to it's "roots".

It's all about flying guys! So come out and have lots of fun, be sure to check out our website and keep checking in as we are updating it daily.

Let's do this!

Everyone, the 2008 LA Classic is gonna be a really fun event! The weather is gonna be perfect and Apollo Field is an awesome venue. Once a year us heli guys get the main runway and all the sky we want. They'll be some great pilots with a variety of flying styles. If your in the LA area and have the slightest interst in RC helis, this is the event for you. Meet local pilots, mave lunch, enjoy. Maybe even enter the 3D contest. No pressure, just have fun. There should be plenty of opportunity to get time on the flight line.

Hey Guys, can anyone elaborate on what the setup at the field will be for electric heli insofar as charging goes? Will the field have enough charging stations for all the anticipated electrics?

At the fly in in 2006, the flight line was sorta cramped, how is that being addressed this time?

I don't anticipate any problems with enough charging stations.
If there are any serious problems with the flight line I'm sure the organizers will make the appropriate adjustments. Just let them know if you have any concerns.
