Default Muncie 2014

Looks like the date for the 2014 Muncie IN R/C Skydive Rally is September 13-14 2014

Now the question is who's coming?

Gary,
Thanks for the information. Bob Deadmond and I will be there. I have modified "Little Juan" and he is working better than last year. See you there.

Man, this is a dead thread, I hope this is not an indication of the turnout we are going to have.
Everybody got their S*** together, I don't, then again I never do till the last minute.

Gary,
I know what you mean. If it wasn't for the last minute I wouldn't get anything done. Although this year I think I am a little bit ahead of the game. See you at Muncie.

Hi Paul,

The plan was to rebuild the Telemaster over the winter, but that didn't happen.
I also didn't get the Stinger fixed either.
So I only have the Stick right now, but hope to have something else ready by the rally.
You going to make it this year?
If I counted right this is the 15th year for the rally.

This is the first year in about 4 that the dates have lined up for me. CORKS Warbird and Classics event had been getting the way.

I see if I can make it this year.

Hope it works out and you can make it. As of now Wes is coming with me, If they all show up there will be several guys that you haven't met yet.
If all the stars line up I will have another 5 place drop plane ready to fly, not a Telemaster. I still have the remains of it and a set of plans, so who knows, it may get resurrested eventually.

Yes, get that big bird going again. That was a pretty good set up.
You got your hands on a third Giant Telemaster didn't you? What happened to it?

Looks like Frank and I will be able to make it this year. Yea! His bicycle racing season will be over and my MS State Bulldogs are playing away.

Any body find a room in Muncie. Everything I looked at is booked for the weekend of the rally. I think I had this problem before on this weekend. It was family weekend at Ball State or something.

Talked to Guy today, he said Ball State and Ohio U had a ball game and Ball State had a reunion of all their past players that weekend.
If you didn't get a room yet, like me, you may have to stay in the nearby towns and drive 30-40 minutes to the field, or camp at the AMA field.

Hey Gary, What rules do we go by for this contest? How are points scored? What are the maneuver's during flight? And how bad does static line (no freefall) count against me? How big is the target and how is it laid out for scoring points?
At this moment it looks like we might be following Chris up there>>> ZOOM ZOOM!!

Trying to figure out the best place to put a drop box on my just completed Balsa USA 1/4 scale Fokker D7. Took a year to build it - DLE 55 for power. It is a big dude even at 1/4 scale!

Well, I didn't answer before because I thought you might not show up.

So here goes,

1) previous year winner get 100 points to start with.
2) static line, automatic 25 point deduction, must free fall 100ft. min.
3) after chute opens, must ,make a left turn, 360 deg. circle, circle must be at least 50' in diameter
4) must repeat #3 but in a right circle.
5) landing, must be into the wind, if not, no score for drop.
6) 100 point score ring is 6" diameter
7) 80 point ring 2' diameter
8) 60 point ring 4' diameter
9) 40 point ring 6' diameter
10) 20 point ring 8' diameter
11) 10 point ring 10' diameter
12) no score for any landing out side of a 10' diameter circle.

The final score is the sum of your 5 highest drops out of 10 (10 is the most drops you can have)
Just as a note the winner last year had a score of 480.

Any more questions just let me know.

Looks like I will be saying at the field. I am have 6 divers primed and ready. Am bring 2 drop planes and a hex. One plane halls 3 divers and the other will take 1. I would like to try and beat the record of 21 in the air at one time. Think we can do it?

I'll be there for the first time in seven years, probably be the oldest guy there. Should get 100 points for that! Don't like the previous winner getting a free 100 points. Never heard of that in any competition.
