Default R/C Skydive Rally for 2007

Hello fellow R/C Skydivers,

As most of you know, it is very unlikely that there will be a 2007 River City R/C Skydive rally. This is due to the fact that the Club that has hosted the past rally's lost their flying field.

There is good news however, The Somerset Model Airplane Club, ( http://www.smac-ky.com ) in Somerset KY the home of "Fowler Field", is considering holding a rally in 2007 if there is enough interest.

The tennative date would be mid to late June, or possibly the same weekend that Wil had his rally, which would be the weekend following the Fourth of July.

Having the Somerset Rally in late June or early July would still leave some time between it and the Muncie Rally which will be in September.

Lets see some feed back on how many would attend if this Rally were to happen and the preferred weekend to hold it.

GaryV,

P.S. Count me in.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your interest and help in keeping R/C Skydiving alive. Thanks also to the Somerset guys for the offer.

I'll be there regardless of the date, probably won't hit the circle but I'll have a good time.

Paul

Hi Gary,

Sorry to hear about New Albany's loss-- but we have all been thru that!

I would be happy to see a rally in Somerset. That's a little closer for me so you can count me in. Date is flexible but the weekend after July 4th worked out good in the past.

Keep us posted on the rally.

Jim

Hey Gary,

Like the others I always hate to hear of a loss of a flying field. Makes it hard to be serious about the hobby without a real field to fly at.

As far as picking up a new field to have it at is super news. Try to keep the interest alive. I will plan on attending, but next year looks really busy. On top of everything else going on my son will be graduating from high school and college both. I hope to have time to make it to all the jump ralleys though.

On this same subject, an opertunity did open up for us to have a field to jump at in Wellington, OH. With some luck that may be another meet to attend.

Everyone have good time and keep skydiving.

Hi Guys,

We're still trying to nail down a date for the Somerset Rally.
We threw out the Date of June 23,24 to see what replies we got.
That date seems to cause a conflict for a few of the jumpers.
If we move the date to the weekend of June 30-July1 how many DO NOT think they can make it?
The Fourth of July falls on a Wed. so I don't know if that weekend or the next would be considered "The Fourth of July Weekend"

If it's that close to Knoxville I can't pass the opportunity! I'll be there any weekend you choose for the event, if not sooner.

Hey Guys; A fellow clubmember and myself are just getting into RC Skdiving, we use another members Telemaster for our drop plane, we would be interested in going to a RC Skydiving rally but doubt that the Telemaster would go with us, would we be able to get our skydivers dropped from other planes?

Have you guys ever jumped from helicopters? Is that taboo within your specialty?

Hey guys, If I get a chance to go My Stingertakes up 3 at a time. I have also skydived off heli's before with great success. We had a Raptor 90 with a drop box on it. Not a prohblem hovering high enough to get a good drop. We also have a Mini Ultrastick to take 3 micro jumpers up at once. We can get people in the air if we need to!

dasintex,

If you can get to the Rally there will be drop planes available to carry up your jumpers.
Did you make your jumper, or did you purchase one?

If you can't make the Somerset KY Rally, there will be another opportunity in September at the AMA field in Muncie IN (must be an AMA member)

My fellow club member and myself each got a RC Skydiving Package from Dave Naylor and have been having great fun with them; I am actually awaiting mine this week, but my buddy has been using his a fair bit and I tried his, can't wait to get mine and do some dual drops, one under each wing. we are both AMA Members, fly regular RC stuff as well; would like to go to a Skydiving Rally next summer.

Hi guy's,

Back to the dating game again.
The June 30-July 1 weekend may be a busy weekend by being close to July 4th.

If it works out with the Somerset Club we are going to go with the weekend of June16-17 for the rally.

For the guys that attended the last Muncie rally, did you like the way the scoring was done?
by this I mean eliminating the points for free fall and the left and right turns, and just use the landing score.

Personally, I would like to see points for left and right turns atleast, and you should get points for freefall. We all agree it wasn't that hard to do, but I feel if you have to think about doing turns it gives you less time to setup for the perfect landing.

I agree with Dave. We should give points for Free Fall and turns. That makes it a little more challenging and a chance to get some points if you miss the circle---did anyone miss!!!The June 16 & 17 date is good for me at Somerset. What is the date for the Muncie rally?

The Muncie rally should be the weekend of Sept. 15-16, 2007.
I'll send an e-mail to Rich to confirm that he has reserved the field for it.

Hello, You can find skydivers at www.RCSkydiving.com. We have a wide range of sizes and styles. They weigh anything from 10oz. RTF to 5-1/2 lbs. RTF. We have been doing this for a long time and we have been selling them to the public for going on 3 years. Check out our site and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Made my reservations at the Hampton Inn in Somerset today for Fri & Sat, June 15-16. I will probably bring my trailer with two jump planes so there will be no shortage of rides for anyone needing a lift. Looking forward to the Rally. Jim
