Default Muncie Rally In Sept.

Does anyone know if this year's Muncie rally will have competition all day Sat and 1/2 on Sun as we did in '05 or will it be just on Sat as it was last year? Need to know in order to make travel plans. Jim

Jim:
Try and get a hold of gary he should know, last year if I remember right the wind was blowing pretty fast and was not too good for jumper. If you want I will e-mail him to find out. OK

They had it listed for two days last year but at the pilots meeting on Sat am, they announced that the competition would only be on Sat and Sun would be a fly what you want to type day. No formal competition. I think most everyone left on Sun morning. At least most out of towners did anyway. I will be flying up this year and need to make reservations early to get a better price.
Gary V. Can you try again to get an answer from the CD?
Thanks all!

Hi Jim ,

I have the same question , We made our reservations for the flight in September already,
Paul did made the reservations for us in the Holiday inn Express in Muncie .
( The Hotels in Muncie are very scare at that time ! )
If the event is only one day we have to alter the planning , and cancel one night in Muncie .
It would be very useful to know if it is a one ore two day event !

, Jules

The 2007 Muncie Skydiver Rally will be a two day event.

Just spoke with "Mac" McIntire and he said the event will be for two days and the AMA facility is reserved for September 15-16.

Last year it was scheduled for two days but the concensus was to stop competition on Saturday and have open flying on Sunday. It's a long way to travel for some and just compete one day only, so we'll be doing it Saturday and Sunday.

And it's true reservations can be scarce on the weekend especially if Ball State has a home football game, so better check it out.

Hi Juan,

The Rally location isn't available on Friday. It's a nice, large, grassy area. However, the main RC area is available for "open" flying. There's a large bi-directional, black top runway to contend with and it's used by everyone. Fortunately there are not many people there on Friday. Lots of free-flighters close to the Skydiver Rally site, but they don't use R/C for their contests.

Hi Bob,

I'm going to make Jules use my Wally Gitchel jumper. That will keep him busy. Below is a picture of my old friend Wally
