What is the radio setup for a sky diver?
I bought a well used Robbe Charly recently. I'm fixing him up..........the chute is in good shape. I know each arm needs to pull down independantly for steering..............and both arms should pull down simultaneously for a landing flare. I'll be using a JR 6102 for control..........what wing program should I use: Normal, Flaperon, Elevon or V-Tail. A short explanation of the transmitter function in relation to Charly's arms would be helpful. There are two servos, one for each arm. Each arm drives directly off the servo output shaft. I'll use standard size, metal gear servos that rotate the standard 60 degrees. I also need some guidance on how to best fold the chute. The canopy is 50 inches wide. Charly is 18 inches tall and weighs 18 ounces empty. A chute pack oblong box is screwed to Charly's back to hold the chute. I think most of his jumps will be static line openings. After bringing all 4 pieces of Charly home in a box.................I'm not sure he was ever any good at free fall openings. His face has hit the ground so many times there's no paint left on his nose.............................[:@]
Thanks to who ever is good enough to help me out on this stuff. |

Pull down on the left stick (throtle Stick) to move left arm down and pull down on right stick (elevator stick) to move right arm down. Use rubber bands to make stick spring loaded in the all the way up position.. Do you have pics of your jumper??

I'll get a picture of Charly today and see if I can get it on here. I'll have to tape him together.............I'm waiting for the arm servos.

I made a mistake on his size...........it's not 18 inches tall.........it's 15 inches.
Thank you Mr. Solomon for the Tx lesson...........that's a neat trick. Any pointers on folding a miniature parachute? |

There are maney guys out there with Charley Jumpers.. Post a new thread asking for help with chute packing on a Charley and im sure youll get some help'' I never had one of these smaller jumpers and our static line setups require us to pack a little different;;

RE: What is the radio setup for a sky diver?
See my answer to your other thread and it will answer most of your questions about the Robbie "Charly". I use the left rudder and right aileron stick movements to turn the jumper during desent because it is the same control movement you use to turn your airplanes. This set up is explained in the video. However, Kens idea should work just as well. As you will see from the video, I (and others) threw out the plastic box for holding the packed chute which will drastically reduce the number of dirt dives. At one time I had 9 "Charlys" and have experienced every possible problem in getting them to work right ! They repair nicely with lots of epoxy!!!!
