help on definition

OK,I know what Mr. Webster says about expo.but can someone explain it in simple terms as it applies to R.C. Also what are the moveable surfaces on the front of a wing? Thanks Smoke trail Charlie

Expo (exponential) is a very difficult concept to put into words. It is usually used on a model that is twitchy or over reacts to the slightest movement of the stick. We have all had a model or two that reacted too much to the slightest movement of the stick, so much so that the plane was almost impossible to fly smoothly. So the radio manufacturers devised a way to make the airplane react less violently to a slight movement of the stick making it possible for smooth flights. This is done by making the control surface, say the elevator, move very slightly with the first movement of the stick. For example, the first 1/16 of an inch on the elevator produces almost no movement of the elevator. The second 1/16 of an inch produces a greater amount of movement of the elevator. This makes the controls "soft" around center, meaning almost no movement of the control surface with the first bit of movement of the stick. By far the greatest amount of elevator movement will be produced in the last bit of stick movement. You have to be in trouble to go here. Somebody else help me out here.

I believe the movable surfaces on the front of a wing are called slats. So you have flaps and slats, making the wing frisbee shaped, producing great amounts of lift.
