Default losi starter box help with losi 8ight

ok so i went through the belt on my stock losi starter box and they are 8$ eachI think i am going to go the extra mile and buy a ofna starter box the one with the 2 770 motors in it.
My question is, am i going to buy this ofna starter box and have belts break on that one too? Are there any sort of direct gear driven starter boxs so i won't have this problem? sorry if this in the wrong section im on a time crunch right now. lmk guys thanks. thoughts, opinions and links are helpful.

I can personally highly recommend the blue top OFNA (truggy) starter box (don't let the 'truggy' bit worry you, it'll start buggies and others just fine). The top holding braces are completely adjustable.

I've had mine for 2 years now and absolutely no problems.

I recommend using a 12v motorcycle battery to give it the juice. It's a bit heavier than say two 4800 nimh packs, but the 12v is much cheaper and is a perfect amount of juice to torque that wheel on any new engine.

Good luck.

If you're actually snapping belts, I recommend the OFNA chrome top box. It's direct drive with a HUGE motor and will turn over anything. It's also very quiet. But it's also kinda big and heavy. But it's a great box. I personally use the blue truggy box and it's worked well, but if I could fit two chrome tops in my pit bag, I'd get two of those.

The wheel on my ofna starter box is too wide to fit in and turn the flywheel of my 8ight t.

Did you just break in your 8ight? Break in and tuning seems to be hard on the Losi belt, but now that I've got all that done, my belt seems to be holding strong.

yeah i did just break in my car. it's fully broken in now and i love the thing. before this i got a nitro rustler for like 50$ or so and that thing gave me problems but it helped me learn about nitro and grow and progress.  I think im gonna go with a ofna crome top box and get a 12v for it. the weight doesn't bother me and i like how it doesn't have a belt.  I think i might just order a new losi belt and sell my starter box. to compensate for the money spent on the ofna.  What do you guys think i could sell that thing for? jwin
you guys have all been a great help by the way.

Probably not that much. I think that theyare only $50 brand-new. You might be able to get $20-30.

If your starting a new engine, they are very tight, it's always a good idea to preheat it before starting it, that will help to save the belts, and your engine for that matter.

I agree highly with tommygun, the motorcycle battery or a 12v gell cell is the best option, they will hold a charge alot longer and have the juice to turn the engine over much easier.

Thought you wanted a decent box with direct drive and not with belts.
The Mantau is alot better than that ofna thing and its got a built in power panel for your glow plug charger and a built in fuel pump.
Never mind, stick with the rest, ignor the best. So long as your back out having fun.
