1/8!!!
Seriously, 10th scale are kind of toylike in comparison.. So many engines, brands, tires, etc.. to choose from for 1/8 buggy.. Very fast, very nimble, very robust, very fun to drive and race..

RE: 1/8 or 1/10
thanx very much i was at an RC shop today and the guy was telling me that electric cars are better these days and they reach the same speeds as nitro cars , but i was telling him i wanted nitro for the real feel of the engine , he recommended that i look into getting a LOSI 10

If you can afford the 1/8 go that route. Losi 8ight 2.0 is awesome and you can get a good deal, lots of used ones out there in good shape. But since it is your first purchase you don't want to buy someone elses problems, get a new one if you can.

The Losi 810 might be right up your alley.. Based on a 1/10 but with 1/8 tires and speed..
You have to decide what you want. If you want to race buggy, a full-on Losi 2.0 RTR would be a great place to start.
If you just want to mess around, the 810 is good, or well, lots of other options..
If you think you might want to race though, you need to do some thinking about the investment. This is the eternal issue. Spend a little now, but maybe spend a lot more later. Or spend a healthy amount now, and be sorted for a while.. I mean, you could get a Jato or something now, play with it til it breaks, then have to invest in a bunch of hopups or whatever. But if you want something quality - and IMHO if you're even asking about 1/8 buggy then you probably really do want one, and should get one. Just be prepared to invest a bit up front. I know it's painful - believe me. But it's one of those things. Spend a lot up front to get going right. Cuz if you look at it over a year period, if you start cheap, you'll probably end up spending more and more than if you invest big at the beginning. And with that option you start right off with something kick-axx and not something of mid-level quality. Racing ain't cheap. But the performance of a 1/8 buggy is pretty freakin' awesome..

Hi and welcome to the Universe claygees. I would recommend not posting the same type of thread/questions in multiple forum areas. The mods tend to frown upon that and usually end up closing one of the threads. The questions you are asking here still fit in your other post in the General forum.
As for your original question, I recommend 1:8.
Again, welcome and have fun.

Congrats bro! Don't worry some people will tell you it sucks and some will say it is great.
Break it in using the heat cycle method, then go out and break it and fix it. Then go run it and break something else. Then, go get parts, fix it, run it and have fun, break, fix run, break, fix, repeat! That is the fun (or addiction) of the hobby!
Then buy something else and do the same thing! LOL
