Fastest hyper 7?
I know this is a popular car, anybody know who has the fastest top speed hyper7 around?
I am aiming for around 80 or so, maybe higher with bigger tires if I can get my hands on them.

I dont think id go with bigger tires. You'd be better off with the small tires to keep rotating weight down, and just gear up either with a smaller spur or larger clutch bell
A 2 speed would be best if you could fit one id say.

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
Yea the two speed is already in with custom gearing, had to break the dremel out big time and ran through 4 carbide bits trying to drill new holes in the smaller 2nd gear (obviously not for this car) lol
Don't mind the stock engine it will be replaced with one of my RB .21's. or the RB 928 (not as much RPM though, but animal torque).
Just getting everything ironed out. Haven't run it yet so I won't be surprised if it doesn't hit the mark off the bat, I do have a bigger clutchbell to try but I would have to dremel the motor mount, waitng for some 105mm foams. I think that's about as big as it's going to get without switching to rubber like the traxxes 108mm xo-1 tire/wheels.

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
Whats the fastest you have done with a stock engine?
I was running my buggy with my father in law's 2.5 jato the other day. Mine just has an Axial .28 which is not a big RPM engine, but it was beating the jato out of the hole and holding onto it up top ok. The jato had a little more speed obviously, but since my buggy is just a single speed i was impressed. My 3.3 jato is a little faster than his 2.5 though so id say it would pass the buggy in short order from a standing start.
Skip to 1:45 and watch the ofna violator going 64mph with a picco .28.

Here is another of it going 71mph and then 73mph as a single speed.

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
Those things are flying lol, I didn't know there was a buggy world record nice!
I'm not too big on buggies but they are fun and stable, I haven't run this gearing with the stock engine yet just finished the modding last night.
With the stock 2 speed gears 2nd gear was 17/44 and I went 46.8mph with the tiny street tires i have on now (94mm dynamite speed treads).
I'm sure 50-55 would be easy with bigger foams 100mm+, I will run the car this weekend on this new low gearing and stock engine and see what it does.
Ultimately I think one of the high revving .21's will be a better choice, I modified the stock one it screams pretty good now.

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
I dont think you let off the throttle fast enough
Buggy looks great though. It would probably help to take the preload spacers out of the shocks and move them up on the tower though for speed runs. It would keep the buggy closer to the ground. [8D]
Looks like it was moving along before the accident though! haha

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
Well I think I will leave the high speed to the 1/10 cars lol.
Got up to 66 mph, came back with an overheated engine/pipe and melted aluminum clutches.
New goal for top speed: 60 and happy lol.

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
*UPDATE* pulled a few tricks out of the hat and this is pretty much my max right now, I am going to gear down stuff is way too hot.
72.3mph for a single speed, not bad, going back to regular gearing now lol

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
i'd get an onroad .21 & pipe. thise things pull some serious RPM
plus your car looks to be riding very high? lower it down & maybe run the driveshafts level. should be a tiny bit more efficient that way plus the car will be more stable with less air going underneath it

RE: Fastest hyper 7?
LOL yea I know I can throw a nice .21 in it but just wanted to see how far I can go with the buggy I save the .21's for other projects
