Kyosho MP777 WC cars aren't dead yet. Build an MP8!
Hey there everyone!!! I wanted to post a new thread to maybe help bring some of our older Inferno MP777 cars out of the shed and back out onto the racetrack. I am a diehard lover of the Inferno series cars and truly enjoy all of mine (all 5 of them). For those of you that may have one of these cars laying around, or just can't seem to swallow the $700 price tag for the MP9 TKI3 kit, there is some hope. My opinion is simple.... if you already have a 777 car, why not use some of the MP9 technology to help improve lap times and reduce maintenance costs without breaking the bank? Now, some people will get on this thread and say what I'm about to outline is ridiculous and not worth it, but please compare the benefits of this procedure before flaming me. I will go through the upgrades, parts needed, and as close of a cost as I can get. Prices will vary on location, but ALL of these parts are readily available and extremely well priced. We have the MP9 TKI3 RS to thank for this very affordable upgrade. I like to call mine the Inferno MP8.
Parts list:
All of these are from the MP9 TKI3RS and can be purchased on ebay/amazon VERY CHEAP
Big Bore shock kit - $50.00 ebay
Shock oils are 50 front with purple springs/ 45 rear with blue springs (our ladies are fat so they are gonne need some help)
Shock stand-offs - $7.00 ebay
Helps the shock caps clear the mounts
125cc Fuel tank - $10.00 ebay
Adds 5cc capacity and it has the shield built onto it
2 sets front CVDs - $30.00 ebay ($15.00 set)
Much lighter than original and helps clear shock spring
Air filter - $6.00 ebay
Why not?!
Rear mud/stone guards - $6.50 ebay
The coolest part of the MP9 and also helps protect the shock shafts
Battery/receiver box w/servo tray - $7.00 ebay
Helps with better weight distribution and servo replacement
Wheel hubs and nuts - $9.00 ebay
Lightweight and stronger pins
The most difficult part of all of this is the rear mud guards. You will have to drill 2 holes in each arm (only go about 60% in, not all the way through it) and modify the engine side one to clear the exhaust. Use extra rear carrier spacers between the guard and arm to make it flush to bottom of arm. With the Battery/reciever box, I have test fit one on my car and it does in fact work, two additional holes will need to be drilled. You will have to cut the resting pod off the bottom of the tank so that it sits level and not on the side pod. This is a simple upgrade and very affordable for anyone that's just not ready to retire their older MP777s. Let me know what you guys think.
Here are some pics of mine, still waiting on the new battery/receiver box to arrive.

Here are the updated pics with the MP9 TKI3 battery/receiver box and servo tray installed. Let me know what everyone thinks and if you have any questions, I'll answer them the best I can.

it looks really nice. Excellent build. I kind of did a similar rebuilding of a Hyper 7 with TLR shocks etc. but its not a competition vehicle. Its not going to be able to compete on the track, just fun for bashing and I made it even tougher and really look smashing.

I just wanted to try to keep it competitive for little bit longer if I could. Love to see a pic of your Hyper7, those things are tough right out of the box, really like to see your upgrades.

Here's the tech info on my MP8 (777WC)
Base car is an MP777 WC with the following modifications:
MP777 CNC Steering knuckles
MP777 Kingheadz rear toe block
MP777 Fioroni rear lower suspension block
Inferno Neo 2.0 side pods
AKA Gridiron II Soft/red inserts
Serpent Sidewinder body
Novarossi Rex P5 w/ Novarossi tuned pipe
Werks Racing 32mm "Medium" Pro Clutch 4 shoe
MP9 TKI3 Big Bore shocks
springs/oil : f=purple 50wt & r=blue 45wt
MP9 TKI3 fuel tank
MP9 TKI3 91mm CVDs front and rear
MP9 TKI3 rear torque brace
MP9 TKI3 rear mud guards
MP9 TKI3 battery/receiver box kit
MP9 TKI3 servo tray
MP9 TKI3 Air filter assy
MP9 TKI3 Wheel adapters and nuts
Car has enormous corner speed, but is still mostly a point and shoot kind of car. The faster you go over the rough stuff, the better it drives. Race weight is 3304g and in the hands of a better driver would be much much faster. Total cost for all the MP9 upgrades - $135.00 USD

Thats a great amount of upgrades for a smaller cost. I really like what you did here. I will get a pic of both my Hyper 7's to show you really soon. Life has gotten in the way.
