i would have to say that it probably doesn't work! is that the site where they just show a video of the truck sitting there idling??
you'd be better off putting the money into converting an RB engine to a pull start for use in your savage

when i say an RB engine i mean a real one like those shown [link=http://www.rbproducts.com]HERE[/link][8D]

Yeah I don't think it works either. They say it helps, but if it does it is probably not noticeable. I mean the it can't really build up pressure in a 2 stroke engine.

i think that the supercharger wouldn't be able to keep up with the engine!
when you consider these engines rev to 40,000 rpm that supercharger would have a hard time keeping up any real intake pressure at those speeds[]

i saw a pic of a twin supercharged HPI touring car somewhere, i'll find a pic or 2

don't think it would work but it sure look good[8D] check out the intercooler

We have had two of them in at the shop. One was on a Savage and one was on a big block t-maxx. Both superchargers are now sitting in the glass case and are for sale. After many many attempts at tuning them for more power we finally gave up on them. They are a big time numero uno pile of junk. There was no extra power to be found, we were able to get some really high temps though. I think that all they really did was lean the engine out, we had to fatten both engines up quite a bit to keep the temps below 270.

Im running a o.s. .21rgx in my savage with pcrc fuel injection and the RB supercharger kit. For all those skeptics out there, think again. this unit works excellent. I noticed substantial gains in torque and response, the pc rc unit keeps my engine finely tuned. I swear by the rb superchargers.

I'd like to see some kind of onroad car with a 4-stroke and a supercharger adapted to it, that would kick some butt.

Galeczka, do you know your engine temps runs at? In theory the supercharger would lean out a 2-stroke engine with rushed force through an opening from the carb to the exhaust port.

of course the engine needs to be richened in order for it to work effectively, but i think you guys are judging too hard without any solid experience with the product. Its not perfect, but RB is on to something, and I think their rc supercharger is worth the money for many reasons, gains in power if the unit is set up properly, and of course, the cool factor, having a functional supercharger on an r/c vehicle, but thats just the opinion of a total gearhead, I.E, myself

I believe some O.S. surpass 4 stroke airplane engines utilize one mounted to the rear of the crank, but i may be mistaking.

You are correct on the supercharged 4 stroke Kuma. YS/Futaba makes the only supercharged 4 strokes on the model market. These engines are phenominal powerplants, bat are for airplanes. They use the crank case as the air pump and essentially put twice the fuel/air mix in the chamber as a normal 4 stroke.

As a point of reference, I used to fly a plane with one of their .91AC engines on it. A normal .91 4 stroke normally turns a 12x10 prop (diameter x blade pitch) at 10K rpm. My .91AC turned a 13.5x12.5 prop at 10K.

It'd be cool if YS made a 4 stroke car engine, but they don't.

i dont see how a supercharger would do anything really in a 2 stroke engine

and what the supercharger does is push more air and fuel in the engine instead of free flow from the carb. so it will work.

adamshowtime, hello.
First time to the forum, I'm the owner of the blue skyline with twin superchargers w/ intercooler, these pictures were submitted to HPI website. (Previously was a single supercharger on the supra) Please note that the supercharger is a research mark-up for R/C product development. the SC that you saw was hand-crafted. meaning less precision and tolerance on the casing, tubine and shaft. I have tested them up to 20,000 rpm. the SC itself does not boost pressure but increase a lot of CFM. the intercooler was spreaded with CO2 to lower the intake temp. the A/F ratio need to adjust to a slightly richer setting....

Bottom line: the Supercharger does help but not a lot on a 2-stroke engine. I have seen a big improvement at the top end (where CFM is at its highest level) but at low end, it is just almost inpossible to tune without pressure regulator.

Keep your eyes out on the [link=http://www.hpiracing.com]hpiracing.com[/link] gallery. I will be posting new pictures for my RUF porsche with rear mounted intercooler and lancer EVO V. Both supercharged and intercooled. I'm also working a chassis dyno bench. it will read Hp, engine speed and wheel speed.

Any one interested in my development, please email me [email protected]

PS. the supercharger is a registered design.
