RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
I've ran it a couple times at the track. I haven't had a chance to race it yet but I will on the 25th. This engine is even more than I had heard from others. I was told how smooth it was and how powerful but I never actually expected it to be this good. This is the finest engine I have ever seen run. You can peg the gas and, somehow, it seems to have great traction and a stunning mid to top end. It's like a P5 but smoother and much more powerful on the mid to top end. I am already arranging to buy two more of these monsters. I'm going to get another M5 to run in my other buggy and an M8 just to see what that engine is all about. The only problem is that I can only find turbo engines in stock and I've heard that they are a ***** to tune with this mill. The best part is that no one here seems to know what a Max Power is.......you should see their faces once they see it running.
$370 is a GREAT deal!! I'd take that one before it's gone. They typically run around $400 before shipping. Where did you get that price?

He does awesome work....
I am running 2 bodies of his right now. His protective coating really protects the body. He did up matching bodies for my buggy and truggy

Took out the Specand put a WS7(not WS7II) and it ran like garbage with the 2050 O.S. pipe. Don't want to start a new thread, what pipe would be great for the WS7? Once I cleared out the pioe, it screamed.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
I ran the Vspec for the first time yesterday and it is about the sickest motor I've had.
I currently own and have recently run a stock JP B5t, and the JP Black B5t, JP Black M2k, Rody Roem modded C5,
Max Power M8t, RB WS7.
Some of them had more top end (C5, M8t), and each motor was awesome in it's own right and some did certain things a little better, but nothing had the overall torque/power available no MATTER WHAT RPM than the vspec. It was just ballistic on our supercross style, technical track. Holeshots like nothing else.
Easy to tune, idled all day.
I can't speak for longevity since I only ran about 3/4 of gallon in it so far, but it goes.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
The Vspec had the P5 on the straight, in the turn, out of the turn, in the pit, in the street, in the air, in the day, in the dark, in the water, etc-you get the idea.
Don't get it twisted. The P5s are awesome, but the Vspec is just sick. Plus at least 3 more minutes of run time thant he P5.
I own and run both, and I was racing against an EB mod one yesterday. The Vspec had it. Again, they were both fast enough that the better driver was going to win, but if you just want to talk about drag racing, it's not debatable in MY experience.
I'm sure other people have seen the opposite though.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
well im just telling you what happend saturday when we were racing ,and you can say what you want, maybe it was the way his was tuned but it did not impress me 1 bit,but for all the hype people talk i would not trade my p5 for 2 v specs, not saying anything is wrong with them but my p5 runs cool, strong, and smooth and i have never had a problem with it, and i will put it up against any v spec out there.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
No argument from me. As I said in my post, I'm sure many people have seen the opposite. I have both plus many more, some of them costing much more than the Vspec, but overall, the Vspec is my current favorite.
BTW, I lent my WS7 to my cousin for his TTR S3, and it was just about dead even on the straight as far as top speed, but I would kill him out of the hole, or reel him in quick if he wasn't topped out yet. Amazing motor.
I may be singing a different tune after 2 gallons as they don't have a good rep as far as longevity. We'll see.
It's all good.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
Well, I've seen Vspecs run at the track and I've never been overly impressed. The way you are talking though it looks like I'm going to pick one up just try it out. I also have a couple P5s, a modded Max Power M5, and a JP B5........I love 5 ports. I've got a little extra dough this week so I'm going to put one on order and see how she does against the others.
You should consider working for OS as a salesman.
I'll post my opinion next week.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
From what i've seen up to now,it's ALL about tuning.(NOT ENGINES-AT LEAST NOT THAT MUCH)
I can beat all your v-specs with my hyper if i tune it at 350F...!
But that's not the point. An engine that runs at 350F won't last a 30-40min race...!!!
Now at my track there is a guy with a collari and his engine flies,i've seen some other same collaris tuned the same as the v-spec and were not even close.
These is why we see many many oppinions on the performance of these engines. Some don't care about how long it will last. And also,an engine tuned at 220F compared with one at 280F are completely different and both will last a long time, exept that the 220F will last longer...!

I WOULD GO P5 OR WS72 OVER THE V SPEC AND ALSO ANYONE OF THESE ENGINES CAN LOOK BETTER THAN THE OTHER IN THE HANDS OF A EXPERIENCED TUNER.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
Its funny how prices compare country to country. In Australia when i was looking to buy my last engine the p5 was $450 v-spec $330 and 421b $560. I already had a 421b it was the second engine i ever had, it replaced my hyper 8 port. the 421b was an absolute beast of an engine, when it ran. It always gave me grief though, i spent half my time tunning it then half driving it. I think i finally found out why about 8 gallons into the engine, the hyper always ran, never anything special but still runs, fuel leaking out of it everywhere, temp way to high, submerged in water you name it still runs, v-spec, low down power suit my new track layout, (the 421b was a waste on the new track (you got past half throttle for about 1 sec on the new track layout) part super easy to get always run in tune or not, idles forever, easy to tune, has got the power of the 421b but spend alot more time driving. Parts are every where around me and alot cheaper, i now have a credit card so i can buy from any where now. For lowend power a p5 or a v-spec would be my choices, just comes down to budget and your knowledge of tunning and parts availabilty, i choose v-spec cause it was cheaper and easier (imo) i also like that there are lots of p5 at my track which are abit faster then me. One of my best race days was running my hyper 8 port fuel leaking so badly at the front bearing it was literally rolling over the finish line out off gas running as hot as **** and starting with 30 seconds to go just to make the distance. most of the top drivers weren't there that day hence i decided to run the hyper it was the slowest car in a straight line by a fair bit but i managed to just win which made it alot of fun (for me at least).
I'ld personally prefer to drive a car the same as every one else, (unless there was money involved), then one that was way better.

RE: REX P5 vs. OS .21 v-spec
Can anyone tell me what's a good plug on p5 with 20% nitro? And can anyone tell me what's the basic or best tune for lsn and hsn? I got the newer one only two needle! Novarossi P5X!
