Hi, I'm looking into buying this buggy. Can anyone tell me how durable it is? I have a ttr-st-1 and that thing is tough as a brick. Is this buggy pretty comparable to it?

I own both the Hyper 8 and 8.5 and they are both tough as steel. If you are going to get one get the 8.5 as it is a up dated 8 and handles better.

I am guessing when you say kit version you mean the Hyper 8 pro that came 80% assembled. The only thing I could find was on Hobao's web site.
http://www.hobao-racing.com/downloads.php

Could not pull up the manual but many be you will have better luck. Did not see anything on the Pro kit but they do have it on the RTR which is similar.

Thanks, I was able to download a 1 page blown up diagram, it gives a pretty good idea where/how everything is supposed to be. That would work for now

So what do you guys recommend for the diff fluids?

I'just filled: 10k/fr 50k/ctr and 30k/rear have not had a chance to run it yet.

Hello all...

A recent check on nitro house and wow, are the manf.releasing there new buggies or what?

This sparked a interest to take a look at them...

I currently have the 1st ed. hyper 8.... (does not have the updated shock towers)
I have extra parts and have not used it a whole lot...

I had thought about selling it, but, looking at ebay it is a piss-poor time to do so now.... and wouldn't get much for it....

I thought to myself..... Why do I need to dump 350-600$ on a new buggy? I am a novice anyway!....

couple questions......................................... ...................

1. Anyone have issues with there stock clutch set up????

2. Has anyone else striped a droop screw?? It seems to me that I remember seeing my droop all out of wack after a crash......
I set up buggy up on a 1/8 x-ray style set up stand, so I know it started out perfect!.....

3. I drilled up the shocks when I first picked it up.... and backed the bollt up on the wing for strength....any one know of some better set ups>>??

When I raced it a year ago, it seemed that on the high speed strait, when I would hit the rutted out section before the turn, it would buck the back end up,
and flip out of control....

Is this the tendancy with this buggy? or just my driving??
What types of this have you guys done to this buggy to handle bumps better and just have a better sorted buggy???

Thanks
Justin

Go to Ofna web site and you should be able to down load the manual if not try Hobao Racing web site. Hard to tell but the only thing I see that might be up graded is the Kingz Head engine mount but hard to tell. Things you will to up grade to a 8.5.
Chassis
Center diff brace
shocks
Not sure what it is called but the front plate over the steering bell.
If it has the orgnial rear shock tower then it as well.
All so the 8.5 has a spider center diff but I do not run it as I like the standard one better.
I have both the Hyper 8 pro and the 8.5 pro.
Look on ebay as you can get parts there new CHEAP

just picked up a hyper 8 pro off ebay, new but missing the shocks. I was thinking about getting some big bore, plan on racing, no bashing. I have some H7 shocks I was going to put on. what are the benefits of big bore over stock??? what shock oil/springs is everyone running? I know it depends on track condition ect.. just looking for a good starting point.
thanks

Just get some Big-Bores.. They are more consistent (in longer mains) and can handle the rough surface better.

NO

Do you have the Hyper 8.5 or the 8? I have both. On my 8 I put Jammin big bores on it and the 8.5 comes with big bores.

It is not a pro kit or at least a lot of it is from the RTR. Just from taking a quick look the Chassis, servo plate, center diff plate, shock towers and I am sure more is not PRO KIT but from a RTR. Sorry you got burned.

Thanks for the info, I only paid 137 for it. I figure it should be worth that? when you say poor steering knuckles did you mean both sets? I think he included some upgraded parts as well. Thanks for the quick response . Brad

I just got an email from the seller and he says the manual that came with it says Hyper 8 Pro but no matter what the manual says it is RTR parts. I did not notice the other set of knuckles and hope they are the good ones as the RTR break REAL easy.

RTR
Has alloy servo tray and center diff top plate. Has a stamped chassis, stamped shock towers cast knuckles and other lower quality parts.
Pro
Has carbon fiber servo tray and center diff top plate. Machined chassis, CNC knuckles, CNC shock towers and many other higher quality parts. In my opinion is not worth what you paid but that is just me.

Go to Ofna who is the importer here in the states for Hobao who makes the Hyper and look at the two or Hobao web site.

If you notice on the radio box where it has a red sticker with what looks to be a 5 this is the frequency number for a RTR that comes with a radio and a pro kit does not.

Is by chance sending it by post office? Did you pay by Pay Pal? I know most of it is RTR. Go to the Ofna forms and post the ebay link there and see what others say. Sorry for busting your bubble but I tell it like it is.

I see it has the old style radio box which you will want to up date as the lid will keep popping off or the tabs will break. My Hyper 8 pro came with the same style radio box and did not last long.
