Whats a good fail safe to get for the Hyper? Right now Im running without one and I get kinda nervous that I might loose signal if my battery runs too low. I want one that displays the voltage of my battery pack. Please help me out. Thanks

Rubberbands ive found are the best failsafe. Wrap em around the carb fuel inlet and the other end around knob on the carb slider. Size No. 8 seems to work well.

The servos that come with the Spectrum radio are not real good as far as speed and torque. The 590 are good for the throttle and brake at 85oz torque .15 speed. A buggy needs at least 175 torque .13 speed for the steering. The failsafe in the Spectrum only works for signal lost but not if you have a low reviver battery. I know this as I have been using a Spectrum DX3 for a year now. I am going to up grade shortly but will stay with a 2.4GHz, as you just cannot beat it.

I have the Spektrum DX2.0 and its a nice radio. Its built in fail safe is for the transmiter only. It has a built in lithium battery back up system if your battery runs too low. That also brings up another question: what is a good rechargeable battery system for the Spektrum radio? (a link would be appreciated). And Im still looking for a fail safe but not sure what to get, please help...

Yes the Spectrum radio is pretty nice but lacks a lot of functions for the serious racer. Now the new DX3R is a big improvement but sill cannot take my eyes off the React. But if I where to up date right now it would be between the DX3R and the React. The DX3R has not been released yet but suppose to in August. Does not matter as I do not have the money right now. []

A failsafe is nice but even with one it is a good idea to have a return spring as if there is a linkage problem a fail safe will not do any good. All so being I do sanction racing it is mandatory to have one. This is the fail safe I use to run and it worked great.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHUH6&P=7
Now I just make sure I keep my RX battery charged run a return spring and relay on the fail safe in my DX3.

i finished assembling my hyper8, re-did the diff oils. i think the shock pistons are too small standard. i drill them 2x1.5mm and they feel better.

lots on innovation in this buggy, lots of adjustments, and fast to change.

i cant wait to try it at the track.

Remember that the antenna is just the short white wire sticking out of the tubing. Easy to keep inside the body. Maybe they will come out with the mini receiver soon.

It will be interesting to hear your comments on the BB shocks. Hope you don't try them at the same time as the radio.

Will run the antenna like I do with my Spektrum set up I have now with my React. Runs out under the back of the body and under my wing and stops. As far as RX I am not worried as I have the up dated Hyper 8 radio box that is bigger then the original and has 3 screws that holds the top on.

I tried to get it from here in the states and as usual Ofna had no idea when they would have them so I got mine off ebay. I have found Ofna is little to no help. I got mine for $23 shipped.

Some are using the big bores that come on the Hyper ST but still have the crappy boots. You need to change the springs as they are to stuff for a buggy. But as far as a set made just for the Hyper 8 no they have not come out with them yet.

46U,

I just got done reading all 57 pages of this thread[:@] and I have a couple of questions.

-Did you ever compare the stock pipe to your 0403?

-What differences did you find in the handling between the stock shocks and the jammin?

-Were you using White springs on your stock shocks?

-Are you still looking at the XB8EC?

-Do you think the Xray would have let you finish better so far this year?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Regards,
Jeff

Yes I compared the stock pipe to the STS pipe and I do not see a whole lot of difference. I just got a JP 1 and will be trying it maybe as early as next weekend.

I have not run the big bore shocks yet so cannot say about any difference and could be a couple more weeks before I do run them as I am waiting on springs.

Yes I would love to have the Xray EC but do to the race budget looks like I will be running the Hyper 8 for another session after this one. No I do not think the EC will make a better driver.

On my stock shocks I drilled the piston holes with a number 54 drill bit and ran white springs in the front and stock blue in the rear. I tried white in the rear but prefer blue depending on the track.

My name is all so Jeff.

Hey guys, I posted a page back that I was going to buy a used Hyper 8 from my friend, well I did and I put some goodies on it:

-AMBrc Personal Transponder
-Dynamite Polished 086 Pipe
-Fioroni Sliding Clutch
-Futaba 2.4Ghz FASST
-Futaba S9450 Steering Servo
-Futaba S9405 Throttle Servo
-JConcepts Illuzion Wing
-JConcepts Illuzion Body
-O.S. .21 VG Engine

Well the Hyper 8.5 was just released, what would be some good upgrades from the H8.5 for the H8? I don't need shock towers or stuff like that, something really necessary. I was only thinking the new Big Bore shocks but what else would be good for upgrade?

Other hop ups I recommend
FR2 Chassis
Center diff brace
King Headz extended EZ engine mounts

Let us know how that ABL OS VG holds up.

Tell me more after you have 4 or 5 gallons run through it!

They have 2 different center diff braces one for the stock chassis and one for the FR2 chassis, which will be my next up grade.

well I've had this engine for over 5 months but I've put like a gallon on the hyper 8 at the track, it has tremendous low end and the 086 pipe im using helps with the top end.

Thanks for the links.
