hiya,

I have a Hyper 8 thats been converted to brushless, except the lipo's are so tall that it pushes the edge of the bodyshell way up and looks pretty stupid.

I'm just wondering what the tallest shell available for it is?

Is it compatable with Hyper 7 and 8.5 shells?

Is it just a standard 1/8 buggy sized shell?

Cheers for any help given!

The pinion is a 25T i posted it earlier a few posts up, good luck with the body issue it was a problem with my losi thank god losi makes a BRUSHLESS body for my car which is alot taller to clear the body. If i was you id look into the GTP-E body if the GTP and hyper 7 can share the same bodies you should be OK

Yes it is possible to fry the engine. How many gallons have you run through it? Pull the engine and see if you can turn it if not start taking it apart and see. Good luck and let us know what you find.

I got time to disassemble my engine.
Everything was VERY hard to remove especially the piston and the sleve. Below you will see what is the outcome.
My guestion is... do I rebuild or buy a new engine or go brushless???
If new one... which engine do you recommend, bearing in mind that I do not race??

Hi there,
Where can I get the piston and sleve parts???
I checked endless sites and nothing except one that was quoting me $100 for both.
If I can't get those parts or are to expensive which engine would you recommend???
Dont have to be racing one as I do not race. More torque would be prefferable option.

I could buy Hyper engines 21-28, or OS... March....savage 4.6cc......savage 4.1cc choice is endless but price isn't.[&o]
Would parts fit ane annother? EG. 3port piston and sleve in to 8 port with good effect??
Could you point me to website with original parts for Hyper 21 8port engine as I can't fing any of those here. That would be my preferred option to rebuild my engine.
Cheers,

I have yet seen where sleeves and pistons are interchangeable. The only place I know you might get parts for that engine is in the US.

If you do not have a temperature gun you will not be able to do like I do. I recommend you get one.

I know of no way to do a heat cycle break in with out a temperature gun. Personally I have tired many methods and heat cycle is the one I like best. I have big block engines that I have at least 9 gallons on them that are still going that I heat cycled when I broke them in. Yes there are other was to break in an engine but not one I will use on mine. A temperature gun can all so save you a motor so is it really worth $35 that is up to you. One more question what fuel are you running and what is the oil content?

I run them on model technics %25.

I know it will pay of in long run. I have to think about it.

If I will not find any other satisfying way of breakin it, then I will buy it.

Could you tell me please what is your way of doing it in case of going ahead with temp gun??

cheers

What is the oil content as anything over 12% is not good and can cause problems.

Please take the cap lock off! I break all mine in on 30% nitro with 11% oil. I will not run more then 12% oil as to much oil is as bad or worse as too little!!!! Like I said I have 2 or 3 big block engines that have never been into with 8 plus gallons on them. All so mark the flywheel so you know where BDC is and put it on that mark when cooling. I heat all my new engines with a heat gun when new to make them easier to turn over and make sure the piston is at BDC before putting on the starter box.

Default RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

sorry for double post!!!!!

I have a problem with my Hyper 21 8p engine - still

I had a chance to break in the engine - 5 tanks on ideling on the ground

Now I want to go for couple of tanks with 1/3 throttle but my car wouldn't move even with half throttle. Breaks are disengaged, engine is reaving but it will not move more than a couple of inches.

Waht is the problem?? I suspect clutch shoes... but all was fine before the crash few months ago. Engine is on factory settings.

Any suggestions welcome!!!!

Cheers.
