Buggy Action Photos - Which photo?
I have attached three different photos that I took of the same 1/8th scale buggy. Which version do you guys like better?
I recently purchased the Nikon program and just started playing with it.

Post-Photoshop Elements (old version)

First, the last looks like you used a cheap camera.

The SECOND is the best.
The first has too much yellow washed over the hole picture. The third, too much blue, making the dirt look dirty. The second has all the right colors. The paint of the buggy just pops and the dirt is beautiful.

gasrc,
I like the second one better myself and I also agree the third photo has too much blue. I really couldn't figure out why I preferred the second over the first, but it appears you summed it up quite well. Of course, I could also remove some of the blue.

The third just looks like a bit of sepia was added. The background on the first picture looks a little more realistic then the second one however.

Inverted,
If I recall correctly, you use Adobe Photoshop CS2. Have you used it with Nikon NEF RAW photo files? The Nikon Capture program has a button to open with Photoshop (but newer and different versions than what I own), but there appears to be some download conflicts between Adobe and Nikon. From what I have read on Adobe's website so far, Adobe's solution appears to be to delete or rename a Nikon file so that Nikon NEF files open with Adobe. However, that does seem to defeat the purpose of Nikon Capture even having a Photoshop "open" button. I was also wondering how that effects the RAW data if it does at all. If the question seems stupid, it may simply be because I haven't used CS2 and have barely tried Capture.

RE: Buggy Action Photos - Which photo?
Sorry, I use photoshop 7. It's worked the best for me as I learned in it. I tried CS2, but all the controls were different and felt out of place to me. I wish I had as nice a camera as you, all I have is a HP [].

RE: Buggy Action Photos - Which photo?
Thanks for the camera bit. I also just dropped a bundle on a new lens. I actually took those buggy photos without a flash in low lighting since it was already starting to get dark at the track--perhaps, that is the reason the first photo has more yellow. From the outdoor off-road track, I ended up shooting lots of indoor off-road photos without the flash as well. The thing is that the majority of the photos came out. Although this is really a good thing since that is what I wanted the lens for, it also means if I continue to shoot 200 or so photos at the track or "each" track, I don't plan to spend a lot of time doing post-photo work just to share photos on the forum unless it is a specific photo that I am interested in. Consequently, the simple and old Photoshop Elements program I already own may work out just fine. I could probably download a demo of CS2 and try it, but I also haven't even taken the time to figure out the second Nikon program and I don't want to start messing around with a program I already own to get a demo version to work. For me the less post-photo work, the better.

RE: Buggy Action Photos - Which photo?
Id have to say the 3rd looks the clearest, but a bit too unnatural. The blues are through the roof on that version of the picture.
When I first got into photo editing I seemed to lean towards bluer looks better. However over time I learned to gauge it down a bit. Honestly you did some good work cleaning up the 3rd picture, just scale down the blue a tad (might be under white balance depending on the program) and you will have a certain clearcut winner.
Hope that helped.

RE: Buggy Action Photos - Which photo?
I decided to play with the software program by picking three pixel points on the photo: white, gray, and black. Anyway, behind door #4 is another version of the same buggy.
Prior to this the vote was:
[ul][*] First photo: 36% (12)[*] Second photo: 48% (16)[*] Third photo: 15% (5)

Yeah the newest picture has the right look. The backround is about the same as the first picture but the colors on the buggy in that newest pic show a lot better.
