RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3

I have tried 3 different starter boxes, none of the wheels will fit the new extended chassis. My suggestion would be to try a different flywheel if you don't want to grind the chassis. Personally, I just used the dremel and I've never had a problem. You could try a werks or other aftermarket clutch system, I never have because the stock clutch shoes last forever in my S3.

I have an S3, and an older .21 ttr engine that I finally got to fit in the buggy. I converted to the flat chassis, and now my starter box flywheel doesn't even come close to the engine flywheel. I really don't want to use the pull start. Does anyone know how I can get this to work without grinding the chassis away?
Someone told me to use an MGT flywheel that it is much bigger, is this true?
Any help would be appreciated.

Oh forgot to mention, I got it to work, but thanks for the advice anyway, that's where I got the idea to change the flywheel is from fine TTR folks like you all. The little .....21 engine works great too, I'm glad I hung on to it.

Slayer, I currently use the OFNA chrome box. I also have a TTR box and a really old OFNA box. All of them have the same problem reaching the flywheel on the newer extended chassis. That's why I ground out the chassis with the dremel. It only took a few minutes, and I didn't have to take off much matierial. Now it works on any box.
I'm breaking out the buggy for its first race of the year Sunday. I'll try and snap a few photo's. It actually hasn't been raced in about 10 months, I mostly ran MT, GT and stock (19T) truck last season.

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
What is the running weight of the S3?
Never mind I found it. 7.4 dry
Guy at the track was telling me that the EB4 S3 sucked, and that it is heavy, well the losi is 7.14, .26 diffrence.
What kinda diff fluid is good on a slick surface with this buggy?

Anyone who thinks the S3 sucks, is mentally malnourished, send em my way I'll show em that if anything the few extra ounces only improves handling! This buggy is very stable all around.
I too would like to know what combo is good for slick tracks, I was running one today, and was fishtailling alot, track was VERY dry!
Ps the little TTR engine runs great!

Thats what I was thinking the couple extra ounces would help traction and handling, its funny because he was driving an RC8.
I've heard that 5,7,1 was good on slick surface with the S3, but I wanted to hear from some S3 owners,
It seems there arn't many though, I'll have mine tomorrow, and I'll be running a Go. .21R 3 port,

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
The RC 8 has the same internals as the S3, and I don't really know where you could save very much weight other than that, I have all the upgrades.
Oh and isn't the RC 8 made by TTR anyway? Not sure but I know that TTR bought out Associated. Hmmmm. In essence the RC 8 is the offspring of a TTR S3 and an RC 10 lol! 2 world champs!!

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
When you convert to the flat chassis, the flywheel is raised due to the thickness of it, I went with a bigger flywheel and that solved my problem and everything is OK now.
I bought my S3 used, so it was already assembled, but I would imagine that yeah you need to assemble it.
PS does anyone still own these, or maybe they're so reliable that we don't need a thread to figure out how to fix em, they hardly ever break! There's almost no activity on this buggythread.

I still own one. I thought about selling it, but no one here in the states seems to care much about them anymore, and I really like mine. So, I'm keeping it. I'm sad that TTR won't be making anymore buggys or truggys now that they are a part of AE.

Oh have they stopped making them? I have been out of touch for a few months.
I took 6th overall out of 26 buggies a few weeks ago though with my S3, and I stalled like 3 times in the a main[:@]

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
sorry for asking guys but does both the flat and extended chasis comes standard with the EB-4 S3? My local hobby shop told me only the pro kit has got these options, the RTR comes with the flat chasis only. is that true?

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
Any s3 owners still out there? I see the last post here was in 2008. I've been looking at an s3 with a v spec and was curious to know a bit more about this buggy. I'm currently running a rc8, but from what I've read the s3 seems to be a very underrated buggy.

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
Very underrated, I love mine actually I love all 3 of mine! Well one is kind of a creation I made out of approximately 1/2 S3 and 1/2 ST-1. I just bought all of Steve conway's TTR stuff, he's goin racing with associated. (former TTR racer). I would definitely strongly concider the S3, I'm very competitive with mine.

Unless things have changed, the S3 is a kit and does not come with an engine, radio or receiver. The S2 is RTR and I believe it comes with a .21

RE: thunder tiger eb4 s3
do all of you recomend me getting this buggy. i am a preety good driver but i was only a basher so it was flat out and only stop when something stationary gets in the way. but i have driven buggies and i was preety good at taking corners at high speeds and still pulling 31 seconds around my cousins track he gets a 29-30 second around his track so its not that big of a differents.
