Well the MBX5 is their current offering, which itself is pretty old though it is one of the better buggies even so.
The MBX4 may be a little too old for racing. I'm sure you could do OK with one but you would do better with a newer design. Also check you could get parts easily for it.

MBX-5 rollers are going for under $300.00 on eBay. I'd go with the X5. Like jonnymac said, even the X5 is getting old.

I have used an mbx 4xr the last 2 years, and it was a good car, but that's just it, it was only good. I was always looking for something extra to get me to the front, but I could never find it. Find an X5 off ebay or something and put the steering system off the X5t on it and you will be dialed.

If you already have one, then yeah it should be good enough for racing. Its definetly as good as all the Hyper 7's you see racing. It wont compete with the Xray's, losi's Sp2, ect. but for intermediate racing, with a good set-up, and some practice should be a good enough racer. If you havent gotten it yet, then defiently dont, it would be much better to get a modern buggy if you plan on racing. But remember in the end racing is 90% driver 7% set-up, and 3% equipment.
