RE: OS VG.21 vs. STS .21E
Get the STS D21B is much faster then the D21E. The E is 3 port and the B is 5. Yes they VG and the D21B should be about the same. Here is a good place to buy STS engines and parts.

No you can't, but if you want to, just buy the pullstart from the D21E, and put it on.
No point though. For the price of the oneway bearings, pullstart assembly, you can buy a starterbox, which makes life so much easier.

To put a pull starter on the D21B is not cost affective! It will cost you at least half of what the engine cost as you have to replace the crankshaft as well as other parts. If you are just bashing a pull start is OK but if you race a starter box is the only way to go.
Good Luck and have fun.
The link I posted in my above post has a Help forum for STS engines.

I run a chrome top Ofna with the one big 12 volt motor starter box. And yes on a D21B with the thigh pinch they have new you need a heat gun to heat the engine up before trying to start it. Which is good to do on any new engine when breaking it in! You all so might have to loosen the glow plug till it starts as well. But the D21B wil smoke both the STS D21B and the OS VG.

Being you are on the east coast here is a great place to deal with and normally have lower prices then those on the west coast. I live in Georgia and normally get my parts in 2 to 3 days and they have coupons as well free shipping on over $100. Jon is a great person and GREAT service.

RE: OS VG.21 vs. STS .21E
Have you noticed the only OS engines to run ABL sleeves are there low end engines? If ABL is so good why doesn't the V Spec come with ABL and not ABC? MOST engines run ABC and there most be a reason. The STS D21B is a much better performer then the D21E.
