I am using Hitech HS-985MG Coreless Ultratorque and they are fantastic. I have also heard good things about Ace servos. They may be a better buy for the money.

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
Futaba and KO are the 'the best' (whatever that means), but then in the particular buggy steering range, it's ACE, then airtronics. I am consistently unimpressed with airtronics/sanwa servos, in comparison to the really good ones (futaba, KO, ACE). Just my experience.
If you want the best servo for buggy steering and don't want to pay KO prices, the ACE DS1015 is for you. No better steering servo IMO, the stats are perfect, same as the airtonics 94359, only it'll be stronger for longer, its digital, and it costs less. On the down side it is slightly heavier, but not much.

I have used several different brands and have good and bad results. I have used JR servo's but only the low end versions. I have had 1 failure. I have used Hitec both mid and top end servo's and have had 3 failures. I have used the ACE servo's and have had no failures. This is not very scientific but based 100% on my own experience any sevo I have to buy from now on will be an ACE servo. I don't really recommend hitec's as I have had to many failures to make me feel comfortable to use them.

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
I've got the Sanwa/Airtronics 94359z and its a great servo. Very strong and fast, all metal geared and never a single problem with it. I can definatley recommend it.
I would consider the ACE servos also on the strength of a lot of people recommend them on here who generally give sound advice (and its a good price too).
I don't think you need to look past these two, but I know all of the manufacturers make a good steering servo that you wouldn't be dissapointed with.
Again (like so many other posts) there is no BEST, Just very good, and the fact that its in my buggy

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
they are all good....
Hi tec - great customer service - I ran 5955tg's - hi tec will replace just about any broken servo
Air - I run 358's and 758's - very good feel, 2 years and no issues
JR - I run 9000t and 9000s in the buggy and really like them...the S is great for throttle and T for steering...I have not had an issue with them and I like how they feel....
I personally like the JR's the best (they just feel better), but like I said, they are all good

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
thats what i was looking for .....the overall picture.....i have heard the same thing that hitec will fix most broken servo's
i have the hitec 5645....or something like that it was like $55 and it has developed a lot of slop
do all servo's get sloppy or do the higher end ones stay tight and true
by sloppy i mean you can move the arm a little bit without actually engaging the gears.....and no they are not stripped
thanks guys this is good stuff

not sure..I have never seen what you are describing.....I do know that when I had my revo, it was like a sickness hit my servos...I went through several Hi tecs (all 5955tg, and the like..not cheap ones)...water was a factor in one of them (hi tec even said so in a note they sent back to me....but they replaced it with a brand new one!). I have not had a servo failure in 3 vehicles now for about 1 1/2 years and 12-15 gallons...(knock on wood)

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
I've been using a Hi-tec 5955tg on steering for 8months and a Futaba S9451 for throttle and brake for the same amount of time. I swapped them over from my Jammin' to my 8ight and they are still going strong. Don't believe the transit time on the 5955, it's a lie. The thing is faster than that. The transit speed gets help from all the torque the servo has. The 9451 is the smoothest servo I've run across and $75-$79 is a great price for a digital servo. It is also very quick with ample torque.

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
best value for money servos for a buggy and truggy is Ace 1015 and 1313.
1313 on a buggy is more than adequate and feels a lot stronger than what the specs say.
1015 on a truggy is simply the best.
closest you can get to bullet proof servos in my opinion and are expensive like K)/Futab?Airtronics/Hitec equivalents.
Lately there has been a large number of pro drivers changing over with exception of those sponsored by other brands.

RE: what brand servos seem the BEST
I'm surprised you haven't noticed that all the people responsible for the best advice around here, and who race competitively are saying Ace. Just wanted to make sure you realise that some people's opinions count for double (and I don't mean my own necessarily). Hitec are pretty average, I would not even mention them in the same breath as futaba, KO or Ace. I don't care if they'll be replaced or not, I want a servo that's super strong and super reliable and won't ever NEED replacing.

Score another point for Ace here. Love those servos. I used to be all about the 94359's and their .10 transit time with 200 oz of torque...I have two in my LST that are over 3 years old. But for almost $30-40 cheaper you can get the Ace with basically the same performance. And with the heatsinks they disperse heat pretty well. A best value in my book, the best bang for the buck.
