Bought Turmoil RTR instead of 8ight.. Will I regret??
I bought a Sportwerks Turmoil instead of a Losi 8ight (Price of $399). Will I regret this? I have never raced 1/8 scale before and have not raced my Turmoil yet. I have only raced 1/10 scale for years. The Turmoil seems to be built like a tank.... BUT.... will it handle and keep up with "the more popular" buggies (if the same guy was running it)?
Thanks for any opinions.

Learn from it, you'll start to see what the fast guys are doing. Not long ago, there were Turmoils in bigger races, and doing well too! It's a capable and durable car, so use it to learn the ropes of 8th scale racing.

Great rigs. I hang just fine at the track with mine.
It should be noted that I'm not being beat by better buggies, but by better drivers.
One fellow at our track totally kills when he races, and he's doin it with a turmoil.
Enjoy it and gl.

I dont think so. They are both good and I think you will find the turmoil more forgiving than the 8ight.
The 8ight suits a more direct driving style and is not suited to everyone. Sure it can be tuned to your style a little but this would take a lot of fiddling about. Out of the box the turmoil will be fairly competative at club level

I made a choice simalar to yours, I do not regret it. You have a very good rig and the main thing that matters on the track is how you use it. The Turmoil will do circles around most of the 8ights at the track simply because of the operator.

Great car, actually I have an 8ight and I drove a friends Turmoil and was very impressed. It is a better beginners car than the 8ight, very forgiving.

I have no experience with that car, but as most said, it is mostly driver at the track. If you are having fun, than you already won!

RE: Bought Turmoil RTR instead of 8ight.. Will I regret??
I got to drive one not to long ago on a VERY rough track. I have to say it was actually more stable than my 8ight in the bumpiest section of the track. Once I found my line in the 8ight it skipped right over everything making it much quicker but if I slid off my line I had to back it off a bit to regain control unlike the turmoil which couldn't care less which line you took. Shock adjustments of course could have fixed on my 8ight this but the turmoil was on its stock RTR settings and tires which was very impressive. It pushed to much for me in the corners making you slow down a bit to make it but that can easily be fixed with some minor setup changes. The 8ight its deffinatly touchy to setup so it could be a good thing you got the turmoil for your first buggy.
With the right driver and setup the turmoil is just as fast as any 1/8 buggy on the market.

I fully agree that the Turmoil can compete. I raced the Mayhem (older version of Turmoil) for the past year and half and gave the buggy to my son. I bought the 8 for myself.
Well, he is beating me on the track, so enjoy the Turmoil and buy JR 9000S or 9000T servos for the steering. Put the stock JR Z590 servo on the throttle.
Put 5F,7C,2R in the diffs. 40 to 45 wt. oil in the front shocks and 30 to 35 wt in the rear shocks.
Have FUN.

Keep the same pistons with this weight oil? What about the springs? It has black all the way around right now (FIRM).
