RE: .30 engine in buggy
well, there's a video on youtube of a guy with an OS30vg in his Hyper 8 buggy. My OS30 is hard on outdirves and the drivetrain in general but it's only torn out one outdrive, guess its the price you pay...

RE: .30 engine in buggy
I have talked to quite a few people that put a STS 30 in their buggy. The STS 30 will out do the OS 30 big time. The OS 30 has a lot of bottom end but weak on the top end. The STS 30 has the same stroke as there 21 size engines. .30 is not legal in sanction racing.

If you do get the STS .30 be prepared to go through a whole lot of fuel in no time. If your going to race just go with a .21 they are more fuel efficient so you dont have to get re-fueled every 5 minutes if you got the .30.

I totally agree as the bigger the engine the more fuel you use. That is why I like my STS D21B so much as I get around 12 minutes run time. On a 10 minute C main I do it on one tank of fuel. I all so have to keep my buggy sanction legal as I race many different tracks and series. I all so hope to run the Pro Series next year and they check your car WELL!!!!!!!!!!

My STS 30 and 21B both run in the 8-9min range, both are running at break in settings. the STS 30 one of the best fuel eficient 30+ engine out there.

RE: .30 engine in buggy
JB COMP did you ever get yours STS engines broke in? I sure do not get anywhere near 8 to 9 minutes at break in settings but like I said I do get 12 minutes on my D21B at race settings. Now on my 28 hard to say as it is in my Savage with a 160cc tank so hard to compare but I do not think it gets near as good as my buggy per cc of fuel. Even my STS D21B with well over 5 gallons still gets great fuel economy and still running strong.

I didn't, but I'll try to make more of an effert to get it broke in when it cool down, and scholl started this week, and man do I hate doing school, and with all the orther going on its hard to get time, and my track I had in my back yard got flatend, so I don't have a track to run on anymore at my house.

RE: .30 engine in buggy
46U, I have a question for you. Ok, you mentioned that you race an STS 21, do you think I get me one of those engines instead of just leaving the .26 Wasp that i have in my buggy?
I have an STS .30 in my Savage, and I get pretty decent fuel economy, but I have damaged so many part of my savage with that engine. I am afraid that i will do the same if i drop it in my buggy. I, personally, think that the STS .30 is a pretty good engine. It is very strong, and its a great engine for what you pay for, but i have never tried the sts .21.
do you recommend it 46U?
I just started working in a buggy for the upcoming race in my local track.

RE: .30 engine in buggy
This past season I have been running STS D21B and have had very good service out of them. I am going to run a STS D21T MKII next year. Being I have to comply to sanction rules I have to run a 21. I have the STS 3 port 28 in my Savage but do not have time to run it much.
