Buy a novarossi 3 port budget engine.....end of story. The O.S. is NOT a good engine.

OS makes a great engine just not the VG series! I run a STS D21B 5 port and well out run all the other engines in its price range. $150. I have WELL over 5 gallons on mine. I will be stating off next season with a STS D21T MKII.

Your right OS makes some great motors just not the VG line and yes that is the Novarossi I am referring to.

On the novarossi make sure you get the "big cooling head" there are two versions.

I'd also look at the RB S3II. Similar or same as the ECO with a bigger cooling head. RB is good quality.

OS does make some fantastic engines....go for the V-Spec. No Turning back then!

Go for as V-Spec instead of a modded VG. No point of polishing a turd. Also consider a RB S5 or S7 for around the same price as a modded VG. Seriously, the VG series are budget engines.

I'm on a bit of a budget, I just wrecked a VZB.
I love that engine but don't know if I want to part with the $300.00 to replace it

This is my first year in the buggies, but I did find out one thing, The smooth power is very nice. I friend loaned me an old sportwerks .26 so that I could run Saturday. WOW what a differance! It was harder to drive than the V spec. I ran like crap.

Get a TTR PRO 21B-R instead. It's cheaper and the power band is very smooth and it's reliable as hell. You can run the crap out of it without crying.

So this engine has worked well for you as a primary?

I raced it a couple of times at a bigger race and the engine held its own for sure. It wasn't limiting my performance. Never missed a beat during a complete weekend. Easy to drive.

I'm using a RB C6BB now and it has more power for sure but I actually doubt I would do worse with the TTR. For $112 (or so) it's definately a very good option. If you're a new racer and just need to burn a lot of fuel for practice it's ideal IMO. No need to burn up a $400 engine to hone your skills.
Rebuilding is cheap too. $10 for a rod and ~$45 for a piston and liner.

I raced much better with the v spec, Maybe the engine did make the difference.

I am really torn on what engine to get.

The plastic carb on the thunder tiger scares me, do you think that an os carb would fit?

The carb is just as good as a Nova carb and made the same way. The throat is metal and the rest is nylon. It's very good and I'm keeping it from an old TTR I blew up a few weeks ago.

With new, RG's still around, why not consider one of those instead. Here's one, NIB, on eBay for $100 Delivered (item 280147436381).

I have two of them. They are nice, solid performers.

I only paid $125 for mine <what is it better motor in that price range?? not tring to be contravercial just wanting to know,??

The SH .21 is pretty good too.

I ran SH engines for years and really like them a lot . Now nobody in the US sells them and have to buy them overseas .
