Losi 8ight Question
so i picked up a team 8ight roller... and now im looking into engines... I don't know what engine i should throw into this buggy. Im not a big racer... more of just every once in a while race at a local rc track... mostly to mess around. I work at Hobby People (http://www.hobbypeople.net/prdcls/CARE2101.asp ) so i can get their motor selections for a good deal, so im wondering... what engine to go with... is the xtm 457 engine too much and not enough top end rpm? (tear up my diffs?) im new to losi and their products... but ive only heard great things... any recommendations? please... :-)

RE: Losi 8ight Question
Any motor should work, it more or less comes down to personal preference. I'd go with something that the locals like to use at the track you'll end up on. That way, you'll have people around you that are familiar with the motor and can help you with it.

RE: Losi 8ight Question
One of our team mates got the RTR about a year ago. He ran that Mach 427 for most of that, and only recently bought a VG. It was a great motor, ran very well for him, and he won plenty of races with it.

RE: Losi 8ight Question
Maybe a VG, but most pull start motors are NOT high quality. Plus, you'll have to make sure they'll even fit. The taller mounts that come with the RTR don't work with all pull/shaft start motors. Just get a Mach 427 and shaft start, that way you KNOW it'll fit.

NO IT WILL NOT FIT!!! The Mach 427 will not fit in the roller even with RTR motor mounts. The RTR chassis is needed. It has a cutaway for the backplate. Just break down and get a bump box and a good non pullstart motor. That is what the roller is designed for. You will be glad you did in the end.

RE: Losi 8ight Question
what engine was it exactly? P5X?
mine was really tight. you need to preheat the motor and wrap the head in foil tape so it reaches around 200F when running rich during break-in.
