Xray is what it is. They didn't gain their reputation for copying designs from nothing.

Yep, the Xray 808 is great, positive design of the 8ight, without poor Losi quality.

I've owned, driven, and wrenched on enough Losi vehicles to stand behind my statement of losi's poor reputation for quality.

I'm happy for you that you feel differently of your 8ight, but what I said won't change regardless of what you think. Sorry son.

I sold my Losi 8ight after the 6th servo burnt out and my 4th set of diff cases notched out. What a piece of crap, and a huge maintenance nightmare. I even had some of the team Losi guys set my servo linkage up, and it burned out a brand new $110.00 servo two days later. I'm going back to Xray and could care less what it looks like! Racing of any kind has always refined and improved technology in the past, this is no different. The smart companies such as Xray will not try to reinvent the wheel, but rather improve its balance and strength.

Losi drivers go replace your servos...![:@][:'(][:'(]

Xray drivers just drive...!

ok for all those who were negative "whatever" for everyone else dont think this car is a losi copy..far from it...not only is it made better than a losi but it drives completley different from an eight as well....it is quicker and more nimble than an eight.....i ran it on a smooth clay surface on an indoor track today and after the 3rd qualifier i had it close to dialed for my drriving style....was in second for the whole race till 16 minutes in and my reciever packed died...i forgot to charge it before the main...so with four minutes to go i was out.....the car had a great feel to it unlike any other car ive driven which tells me it is not a losi clone(that and building it)....yeah its got some losi inspired parts but thats about it....in the long run id say it will out perform a losi .........gonna go for some outdoor racing next week in indiana ill let ya know....
yep a rookie mistake is the only thing that kept me of the podium with it today.....

xraydriver- not saying your wrong or anything, but I've had the same $70 throttle servo in my 8ight since December and haven't had a problem yet. i am thinking you may have overlooked the part of the instructions where it tells you to add the o-rings underneath the radio tray.

It's ok if you don't have the technical aptitude to drive/set up a Losi, I understand... its not for everyone. [)] As for durability, if you take care of it, it will hold up well. I've had mine for about 2 years, and it still looks/runs great. You can search and find the "Discussions" about the 8ight's durability all over the place.

Now back on topic. Say what you will about Xray's design, but they basically saw which way the wind was blowing. All the other manufacturers are playing catch-up realizing what Losi did to the 8th scale class.(I said this about a year and a half ago, everything would start to look more like the 8ight...and look what happened...I was RIGHT!!!) I have no doubt the 808 will be a great car, even better than the Losi. Its true, Xray has better parts/build quality, but not by much. I'd say it's like Honda VS Lexus. Two great companies, two different levels of quality, based on the market they cater to. Both cars can do the same job in the same driver's hands. But there's one issue with Xray I don't like. Parts. You may have a LHS that stocks them, but I don't. If I break a part on my 8ight, I can walk into a shop and get a replacement. If I got an 808, and broke something I wasn't prepared for, my race day ends right there. Other than that... I want one too... [)] I'll just play the "Wait and see" game... because the Hyper 9 looks pretty cool too.

as far as parts go you are right x ray parts do not seem to be as available as losi's....this is usualy because of demand...the new 808 will be popular enough that at most big races there will be a bunch running so someone will have parts..find a rcamerica driver like me that will be happy to help you if you need a part or setup .....
make no mistake i was very experienced in rc long before i drove a losi....and for nearly 2 years i did drive the losi...im quite aware of their abilities and their shortcomings....dont get me wrong i loved my losi's and would still be driving one if someone had not come out with somthing better......xray

I agree the 808 does look sweet ( I wish I could get one ) they look more capable than thier other models on the american tracks with the big jumps, I had a the TQ for a while, but like Foamy said, the parts availibilty is not there and it didnt perform to my expactations, so I sold it and got the 8ight. Ill bet this will be the next buggy everyone will be ranting and raving about. If the parts availibility is there I just may get one in the future. Good luck with your 808, and if you race at FTR I'll see you there soon I'd like to see it in person. Take care.
