I've always been a fan of Hobao's value for money and impressive specs. I'd get an 8.5

This question doesn't even make sense.... The Hyper 8.5 doesn't compare to a high-end race car like the 8ight. The only reason to get a 8.5 is cost. If you can afford the 8ight then get it. If you don't know why I'll tell you, The 8ight plainly does everything better. Take someone that owns a Hyper and is used to it and knows how to drive, give them a High-end race car like the 8ight or RC8 and 9 times out of 10 they will be faster. and yes, I own both. The Hyper was my first 1/8 scale and the first RC I had EVER raced with, when I moved to the 8ight I improved so much that my local club pretty much made me move up to expert.

TTR_EB4 ,
Hard to drive, yes. It takes some getting used to. The only differences between the kit and RR is that the RR is assembled and comes with a 13t clutch bell. I'm not sure what you mean by weak on parts... so I'll try to answer that one, 8ights wear fast, they develop tons of slop in the suspension bits. HOWEVER, this does not effect performance. I have 6 gallons on my RR, all the wheels kind of flop around with slop. I don't notice it on the track at all. The other bad point on the 8ight is that the front drive shaft pins wear fast because of the severe angle of the shaft. No big deal though, I just replaced mine after 6 gallons. As far as breakage, the 8ight is hands down the toughest 1/8 I have driven. I have broken a spindle, wing mount post, and today I broke a rear hinge pin cover. This is in 6 gallons. As compared to my Hyper 8 I was constantly losing caster blocks, wing mounts, rear hub carriers and F shock towers. Not to mention I bowed the chassis on my Hyper in 3 gallons.

The only things you have to keep an eye on besides the usual are the F and R drive shaft cvds. Just like any captured pin CVD they can come apart.

Before making your choice there's one aspect nobody talked about, the fact that the eight is very sensitive to set up,my regional championship runs on several very different tracks and contrary to some of my friends who run Mugens and Hypers, i have to go over my settings much more often than them.
The Drake and Truhe set ups only work on tracks that are medium/high grip and somewhat smooth if you go to an outdoor track that isn't well maintained, prepare to watch the rear end of your car hopping all over the place ...
this is just to say that in my experience, the 8 has a narower window as far as set ups are concerned, if you don't mind swaping out shock pistons you can get by with the 8.

The others yes, except the MP8, you see it doesn't exist The MP9 is the future buggy of kyosho, after the MP777 series.

Hard to drive and sensitive yes. I have two identical setups and compare small variations from one change to another. But once you get the concept of tuning it is really pretty easy. You will get to a base setting, Stock is a good place to start, but you can run the track and change out the settings off of the base setting. Driving... well once the setup is close the car begins to stick the turns and drive out better. In the beginning none of the setting stuff matters. You just need to get the car in a safe setup and then practice the timing around the track, once you find your groove you will see steady improvements in track time. Once you get consistent then you can start adjusting the tuning to help improve small rough spots. But racing is all about finding the groove and staying in it. Drive a little on the conservative side, and as the race goes on start to slowly increase your pace. In the end you can shoot to be in the middle of the pack. As you get your timing down and improve your tuning you will slowly see yourself moving up on the leaders.
