RE: !!!!OFFICIAL HYPER 8.5 THREAD!!!!
LagosX...NOTHING has been broken on my Hyper 8.5 (touch woody). Hop Up parts are usually aftermarket or factory made "extra" items to improve the handling, durability, performance of a stock car, buggy, truggy....or just used for bragging rights, etc.
I'm saying that the fact you can't find almost ANY hop up parts shows you how well the Hyper 8.5 Pro Kit was put together straight from the factory. You really don't need any. The other items i mentioned or listed aren't specifically designed for the Hyper 8.5, they are just items i want to try or have used on other models and worked quite well.
Even the body on the Hyper 8.5 is quite impressive. Just look at it[>:]. It channels air over the engine's cooling head as well as focuses air straight onto the wing while still adding it's own amount of downforce to the entire buggy. I can't say this is the only car that does it, but i have yet to personally see another car with that much thought put behind airflow. Please...do correct me if I'm wrong on this one.
I'm very impressed with this car.

Yes i know mate. I was there at the game in Portugal watching the semi final where Portugal beat Netherlands. You then went on to beat Portugal in the Final of the Euro 2004 (not last years')
Anyway...enough of this. It's a RC Buggy Forum...not a Euro 08 forum..LOL

RE: *THE HYPER 8.5 THREAD*

everyone I know runs the truggy X1X big bore shocks at my track.... this is a rough track with HUGE jumps, I hope the stocks can handle it.

Hey f575gtc...still running the stock shocks mate, but am thinking about putting a set of the Jammin' (HongNor) 14mm big bores on. They work pretty good on my MP7.5, so.....[&:]
I did see a previous mention in an earlier thread about shocks popping off, but it's an easy fix. Use a bit longer bolt and add a small washer. done.
Having said that, i've never had a shock pop off.....yet

Mine came with white dish wheels and quite a soft compound set of Hobao Racing tires. Cant see these tires lasting too long. I didn't even mount them. Bought some yellow wheels i liked and a set of Pro line Step Ups. You can see them mounted on the first page where this thread was started. But those aren't the ProLine tires. They are Go R301 Hammers.

Slicks....They're premounted GO-R301 HAMMER wheels i found in the LHS when I bought the Hyper. Just liked the look of them and the tred they have works good for the track out here. Another thing i liked was the fact that the "breather" holes are actually in the wheel, rather than punched through the tire...good thinking that[&:]

RE: !!!!OFFICIAL HYPER 8.5 THREAD!!!!
Just wanted to say I picked up a set of EDS hex drivers and they are made out of spring steel, amazing quality, precision cut, fit in the screw perfectly and are super hard steel.

RE: !!!!OFFICIAL HYPER 8.5 THREAD!!!!
wow man I got ALL my stuff today from a-main.
Ace DS1015 Servo for steering
Ace DS1313 Servo for throttle
Advantage rims with Proline XTR compound Crime fighters.
Extra Novarossi glow plug, some extras like AE green slime, 30wt shock oil, and 5000wt diff oil.
new wheel/glow plug wrench...lost my old one
Outter wears RC8 pre-filter, the dont make a hyper 8.5 one but they use the same size filter.
I can FINALLY begin the breakin of this novarossi 821 engine tomorrow
I already have my linkages and everything set, just gotta throw on the servos and fire it up....but for tonight..its metal gear solid 4 time.

RE: *THE HYPER 8.5 THREAD*
I just wish they would bring out a 8.5 kit that can be built from scratch, i wouldn't hesitate in buying one because they are so tough. My first nitro was a hyper 8 rtr and it taught me all the basics of nitro but im at the stage now where i really wanna build a kit from scratch so i can learn everything, not from %80 or something like the hyper is. Hopefully the hyper 9 will be able to be fully assembled. Ive currently sold all my newb RC stuff that i started out with and have the money saved for a high class buggy that i can build from scratch and high quality gear from receiver batts to glow igniter, currently im looking at the 8ight but with the starter box issues, throttle servo issues and imperial hardware i really don't know if its such a good idea.

RE: !!!!OFFICIAL HYPER 8.5 THREAD!!!!
can someone with a REAL GOOD camera, and stock linkage take a picture of their throttle linkage and post it?
I have built this linkage wrong 5 times, something is always hitting or binding somewhere....

Joydude...if you're ever down at Nad al Sheba, let me know and i can come down too. I'll pull my servo out and we can try it on yours.
I still don't even have one gallon through my Black mate.

f575gtc....will try and get a picture of that for you tomorrow buddy. Car's at home today as my 'real' car is in the shop. One thing i've noticed with my linkage is that the bottom link likes to hit the fuel tank when i apply full brake.

Hi Joy,
I'm not an expert on servos mate, but if your probs are fixed and everything's working fine and to your satisfaction...I wouldn't change things. When i buy servos, it's basically what's available in the market and i read the servo's specs. If they fit my requirements and budget, then i get it. Save your money
