First he probably needs to fill the diffs with oil, 5-7-3 front to rear. RTR's come with grease and they might as well be dry. What shape are his tires in? What sway bars does he have?

Another vote for the diff oil, i know its not a Buggy, but i changed the diff oil in my ST-1 (had blob of grease) to 3-10-2 and it went from turning ****e, to being able to do figures of 8 with the throttle applied.

To me, it made a night and day difference!

Have him check the droop screws as well(if the car wants to roll over), the CG may be too high, he may need to turn them in a bit to lower the buggy.

Try the easy driving race roller setup on the Losi site. By far easier to drive.

You could always just get a bigger hammer, and beat it till it works right.

Here's a list of all the various setups. Just look through the list for "stable and easy to drive"

You have what you need to turn the RTR into a faster buggy. Kyosho is a good buggy, but I found I am much faster with my 8ight than I am with my Kyosho. Kyosho times are about the same on long open tracks, but in the tight sloppy tracts I average almost 2 seconds faster with the 8ight. I guess it must be my driving style that just works better with the 8ight.
