Out of those two I'd go for the lightning. The mp7.5 sport range are pretty poor.
Let me know if your open to other suggestions though.

If you beleive that my friend you are a fool.
Plastic spur gears, 2 spiders only per diff, no engine mount and a 2 shoe clutch all add up to poor value.
Go buy all the bits you need to bring the standard upto other buggies in the class and it will increase the price even more.
And before you say anything I have one on the shelf in my garage.

I am from OZ too, I would buy from USA. Way cheaper and it will be delivered faster than the local site you are looking at.

I second this. We ship a lot of kits internationally because the US dollar is so weak. It takes 6-10 days with USPS Priority Mail International. You wouldn't consider buying through us unless you wanted the XRAY 808. Definitely take their advice and buy your next RC car from a US dealer. If you don't want customs charging you a bunch, ask the dealer to set the value of the shipment to whatever you want.

I face this problem every time i get things from over seas delivered to me.

Here in UAE, if i receive a package from overseas and the shipping documents that accompany it state the value of the contents over a certain amount (I think $200) I have to pay a surcharge or tax of X% on that shipment and its total value.

I didn't know that they could put a lower value on the shipping manifest. That's interesting. Thanks for that Hulligan.

I want to add a few more important details about declaring the value of an international shipment. I just spoke with a USPS agent to confirm all of this and it matches what we've understood. When we ship by USPS Priority Mail International we declare the value of the shipment with USPS. USPS uses this amount if a package is lost so they can reimburse us. For example, if we set the value of an [link=http://www.rcxray.com/xb808]XRAY 808[/link] as $200 USD (normally $600 USD) and USPS loses the shipment, then we will get a check for $200 which would be passed on to the customer as a refund. USPS doesn't care what we set the amount to unless it is much higher than actual retail.

The customs agencies for various countries do care. They consider it illegal for the amount to be anything other than the retail price. I asked who was liable in this case, the customer or the dealer who shipped it. The USPS agent said the customer is the liable party. As long as the dealer sets the value to the amount that the customer requests, the customer is the one who has to answer to customs.

If you are OK with answering to customs then you can set the value of the shipment to whatever you like.

I'm pretty sure you won't get charged for customs or extra fee's as long as the value is less than $1K. I have bought some pretty expensive gear off the net and have not had to pay extra. As much as I try to support LHS. The high dollar makes it hard to go past buying from the US. I have been looking at a few boats. The shipping on some of these is more than the cost of the kit. Even so its still cheaper to buy from the US.
Also I can recommend Amain and CarolinaRC.
