You mean, build the whole car, skip the step when you build the engine and build it afterwards? Hmm yes you can, cuz it's one of the last steps. Don't forget to build the engine properly, cuz you have to do it on a specific way. You just can't stuff the engine in the car and say "voila" Cuz you'll strip your clutchbell or spur gear. How to mesh the gears: cut a 1/2 inch wide and 3 inch long stroke of standard paper. When you put the clutchbell against the spurgear you must put the paper between them. Rotate the clutchbell untill you see "bite marks" on the piece of paper. Still apply a bit of pressure to the engine so that the clutchbell will make good contact with the spur gear. While the piece of paper is between the two gears, tighten the screws to secure the motor. Maybe you already know who to do this, but just in case I wrote it down for ya

Oh don't forget to put lots of pictures of your build on this thread (if ya can)

Nothing to be scared of. If you can read instructions and open numbered plastic bags you can built it.
It's way easier than driving.

It's realy easy Just when you build in the engine, you just put a piece of paper between the gears And that's it If you follow my instructions you'll see it's not a big deal. Maybe it sounds diffucult cuz I explained maybe to specific.
Oh and I found a vid for you. He'll explain everything in the vid. It's btw an episode of Rcnet (from the magazine RC Car Action).
He says to use two pieces of paper, so use two instead of one.
Here's the vid: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa8bGfexpLs

Yeah but on a nitro engine it is different. The smaller gear is on the engine which is on the clutch bell and the larger gear which is the spur gear is on the drive train.

The pinion (the gear on the motor in electric cars) is also smaller than the spur (thing attached to the drive train).
But that's just some side information But everything will become clear if you build the buggy. I heard the D8 is realy easy to build, so if you just be focused, well atleast don't get sloppy and want to build it to fast, it will be fine. I'm only 14 years old and have no problem with building kits. So if I can do it, everyone can Well maybe not everyone, but just want to encourage you, he he he

Think he misunderstood where you were saying that this really wont be your car and that it will be rc universes. So you getting this car tomorrow then? Good luck with the build.

Oh, you have to put grease on your differentials, I think the grease is included in the kit. Maybe you can read it in the instruction book, but mine didn't say I have to put grease on it. But I had already built my car, so that was a pain in the ***.

More to setting gear mesh then what the video shows!!!!!! After the paper trick you want to turn the spur 360 degrees and make sure there in not any bind. Then you want to make sure you have just a little gear lash. Then make sure both the spur and CB gear are parallel to each other. If by chance you have a gear that is a little out of round and have one spot a little tighter then the rest you want to set the mesh at the tightest point. Some times it will take two or three times before I get it like I want. When done I take one screw out at a time and put a little purple loctite on it and reinstall. I have been doing this way on all my nitro vehicles for year even on my Savage with a plastic spur and NEVER had a problem.
