New servos for RC8
So i'm buying a HIGHLY upgraded RC8 FT Kit from my friend for $200 (AMAZING DEAL the car is worth ~ $1500). and he is keeping the throttle and steering servos. So what are some modestly priced servos? that are GOOD obviously.

RE: New servos for RC8
Get either :JR9100s and 9100t or ace 1015 & 1313 or if you really want pro quality then wait till the HVT 7.4v servos start showing up in diff brands. I think JR has launched theirs others are still procrastinating.

RE: New servos for RC8
i would say just spring another $200 and get the Associated servos. I've heard nothing but good things about em, and they are about $30-40 cheaper the the hitec's and JR's of similar strenght.

RE: New servos for RC8
IMO for decent bang for the buck I would go with the hitec hs5955tg they are relatively inexpensive but have titanium gears are fast and strong enough to hold thier line in a high traction situation. you can pick these up for 90-100 a piece . If you want more than that the Jr ds8711s are very impressive for around 130 a piece but if this buggy is as good as you say it is you definitely want some good servos it would really be dissapointing to destroy such a good buggy because of poor servo quality but I have seen it happen servos are in many cases looked over as a high performance component but if you had a 60,000 dollar corvette you would not put a 20 dollar set of brakes on it would you

Servos are a 'you get what you pay for' kind of thing.
Skimp on them and you'll wish you hadn't.
Can you afford to buy them twice?
The JR Z650 would work ok for throttle duty, not so much on steering.

Alright I'll get the Z650M for the throttle and something else for steering.
What characteristics should I look for in a steering servo? more speed or torque?

RE: New servos for RC8
I like at least 200 oz./in and around .10 to .15 speed.
Look at the specs for the AE DS-1015 and get as close to that as possible, IMO.

RE: New servos for RC8
If you have a AE why not run AE servos. This is what I run in all my 1/8 scale racer buggies and race monster truck. I even run the DS 1015 as a throttle brake servo on my 1/5 scale.

Same servos as ACE.

There the same at the ACE servos? How are AE servos? comparable to Fubata, JR Airtronics etc?
