Length from Stern?
Hi, on a 40inch flat bottom build, with a 31cc Zenoah, what would be the distance back from the stern that would be a good starting point for
the Engine? Does 7inches sound correct from stern to piston centre? Cheers.

Pusher or puller prop will define where you should start. Generally you want the prop at about 1/3 (hull length) from the transom/stern. On a 40" hull that's about 13.3". This is for a puller configuration and is a starting point only. Either puller or pusher will require moving the engine around to find the perfect balance. I don't use pusher configurations on any of my boats so I can't give you a starting point for that. I don't believe the same "rule" applies to pushers.
