Most of my boats have wet rudders, but the two that I use air rudders on control pretty good with rudders that are as tall as the engine mount. My best air rudder boat is my 8# flat bottom kamikaze. That boat uses a 13" prop and rudders are 7.5" tall and about 7" wide.
