RE: Drop engine Stand
Ya know I have a few books here that have a lot of u-joints, flex coupling and things like that, bet if I was to get up off of my rear end and look, I could find the parts that yall are talking about. Making something else to try.

RE: Drop engine Stand
A pull start engine would be a prime candidate for a project like this. Otherwise, a flywheel able to accept a starter belt like on an IB hull set-up.

RE: Drop engine Stand
Hey Haljmac!
That picture in post 7 of airboat chalenge is EXACTLY what I tought about......The idea came to me the other day at work, when I was cleaning the garage and came across the small weed eater we use in the summer...I laid it on the floor and just imagined it in a hull...now if I just lift the end with the cutters in the air, bingo, new idea!!! But you beat me to the punch
Still I'm sure it would work! Just shorten the existing shaft, find a way to affix a prop and pretty soon you're in business!!!!
See ya!

Then angle the engine itself to keep one end of the flex straight. On the prop end install a dogg, thrust bearing and a pair of flange bearings.
