Default What per cent do you run ?

Just curious here on what per cent nitro the "average" of the guys here on the AIRBOAT section use. The last choice is for you guys that only run castor or syn oil with no nitro mix since your buttons are VERY low and you have VERY high compression .

You know I generally run the smaller engines, so I actaully have to answer two types.
Engines up to .10, I run 25% w/caster.
Engines from .15 and up, I run 15% w/caster-synth blend.

Back in the mid-late 70's, I flew FAI CL combat on FAI fuel (no nitro, just meth and oil blend).
INteresting to get Fox .15's to run on no nitro.

im with pro, i run 2 different types.. for up to .21's its usually around 20% nitro.. but the bigger motors (ie. this .61 i just got) i could give 2 sh**s about it so its gonna get some 40-50% hehehe.. let the mutilation begin.

Guess that all depends on how long you want your motor to last . The higher the nitro content , the shorter the life of the engine , the lower , the longer it will last . I , myself run 10 to 15 without any problems .

Generalizing.......If you look at the poll numbers it looks like between 5% and 20%. But I would say the majority use between 10 and 15%. This goes not just for airboats, but airplane engines in general, which is what we are using.

Everything gets 60%. I have been running it for 30+ years. Custom mix.

Despite the ultra mega necrobump, I’ll bite. I run no more 15% Nitro in my airboats and that’s only in two engines (Dub Jett). The rest I use 5-10% Nitro because more is a huge waste. I custom mix also.

Indeed - the OP hasn’t posted since 2009! Doubt he’ll get any benefit from the recent posts.

Zero for me (I make my own). I do notice my four strokes idle like poop on zero though.
