Glue For Laminating Plywood
Hi again. I am underway on my first big airboat build and I just ran into my first 'snag'. I have to laminate the rear engine mounting bearers on my main beams. All parts are 1/8" Baltic Birch Plywood. I have to laminate the last 5 inches cross grain, 90 degrees from each other, with another piece of the same 1/8" material. What is my best glue to use that I have on hand. To my disposal are the following:
Gorilla Glue Polyurethane
Gorilla Glue Wood Glue
5 Minute Epoxy (Dollarama variety)
So, I am just wondering which glue would be best for my application. Thank you.

Any structural/load bearing parts should be glued/laminated with a long curing epoxy IMO. The longer the cure time the stronger the bond. 5 minute will work, but 15 minute would be better and 30 minute epoxy would be best. Wood glue doesn't hold its bond if it gets wet and polyurethane adhesives are too brittle when cured. Polyurethane glue behaves the same as CA glue. Cures damn hard, but it's so hard it's brittle. Epoxy is much better.

Yeah, I had planned on doing that. I will start another thread for the build and any other questions along the way. I can take a few pictures in a while. It is all epoxied and clamped up at the moment. Had a bit of 15 minute epoxy still kicking around, so used that. Stay tuned. Realistically I will do the build thread tomorrow afternoon.
