Default My SI3....All about SPEED

This is going to be one of those builds. Where the desired result is all about speed. I was lucky enough to get the first upgraded prototype for Selph Inflicted boats. There are several upgrades which makes building easier and much faster. The upgraded features allows the build to become almost fool proof And the new kit did away with the 45 degree transom and now it's flat. Thats great for adding a water rudder. My last SI3 kit build was left stock but this one will be a little bit different. I will mod all I can for the desired result. The first mod was from Hooty.... a custom hand made engine stand. He is no stanger to Speed. It will be a great and needed addition to this boat. The second and third are from me a custom Titanium water rudder and Titanium turn fin. I started using turn fins early last year and love them. It took many tries to find which style and shape makes these boat handle great in the turns. The last SI3 build with my turn fin was able to make turns at wide open throttle at 52mph. And the fourth mod is a engine test stand which I custom made. It's a must when correctly breaking in and tuning engines designed for speed.

THAT brings back memories! Seeing that boat glued to the water like that, at those speeds was just amazing!

After reviewing my first post I missed one of the important items..... Picutres of the upgrades.

All the mod'ed pieces shown have tabs which fits into cut out on the main deck and engine uprights. Simply pop pieces in the slots and double check then glue. The main runner has the best feature. Not only does it use the tabs but the engine uprights actually hook into the top deck. Well.... here are the pics

The miracle of the CNC laser......you don't get that kind of precision with a box knife.

What are all the holes in the last pic?

The last pic is the engine support plate. I believe they are holes for a fuel tank.

Those are to secure the fuel cell. Just zip-tie the fuel cell to hold it in place.

Thankyou for your wonderful comments. All I need now is the engine.

Today I think I have finished all the machining for the parts for this project. Just finished up two servo trays. It is the first attempt at the trays and they turn out great. I might have to make more in the future.

There is not a free drawing for this boat. But the designer I believe will introduce a electric version soon.

By the way I was just passed thru Slovica on my way to Vienna (Wein) from the Czech.

Sorry for mispelling your country. When I left Brno I was driven to Wein so I could catch a plane to the US. And I believe we passed thru Bratislava.....beautiful country (Little Big Country). And yes on the Pivo. I fell in love with the CZ beer and would love nothing more than to have more. I give you a ring in the future.

What are you using, a mill where you move the bit by hand cranking, or cnc?

By the way, you're crazy (in the good way). The accessories you're making are awesome.

Koolaid... The cnc's are full so I use a standard mill. It has hand cranks but I use a sevro motor to save my arms. Servos give you better control of your cutting rates. Makes for a better finish.
