Default Windy

Just finished redoing my Windy. It was headed for a rock on shore so I opened it wide open to get a sharper turn. It picked that moment to run out of fuel. Ended upside in the water. I drained all I could then pulled the plug and put in after run oil. Got it started again and ran for a couple of minutes. Detail stripped the engine at home, no damage.
Fixed a couple of hull cracks. Sanded everything down and repainted
Looks better than ever now. Will be afloat tomorrow.

Yes, thats no time to loose power....Look out!!

Here is what I do when I submerge my nitros.

I have it back and running within 3 minutes of getting it back onshore. This procedure will help remove all the water inside the motor.

snow is pretty forgiving- I have had some HUGE blowovers in powder snow with a fairly fragile 9 lb. boat and all you have to do is fire it up again- good to go. I have wiped out in sand and grass and dirt too - this is why I have a air filter on my carb. I made a very simple one with a thin piece of foam rubber ? and a ring that fits over that and the carb. Works Great ! I can't tell you how many times I was picking small pieces of sand, dirt, grass, goosepoop, and stufff out of my carb.

I got the rebuilt Windy on the water and I loved it. Brought it home to clean up and found water in the hull from a small crack at the chine. Set it on the bench to get some epoxy for the hull crack and it fell onto the concrete floor. A loose pylon hardly describes the result. Spent the afternoon repairing that and the leak. It will be back on the water in two more days. Fortunately none of the decoration or the paint job in general were damaged. I like the little skimmer more each time I take it out. Have another kit on the shelf and will put a .15 on the new one.
