Default FLITECRAFT AIRBOATS RACING

One more time with TERBOBOB ' s guidance I have come into a second TEMPEST by FliteCraft.
Now our little group consists of (2) TEMPESTS and (1) RIVER RAGE.
Which means : WE ARE OFF TO THE RACES ... !
the first Tempest is already set up with the OS .35----3 blade prop
the second will carry the next available .40 size
the RiverRage will probably run the ENYA .50 being installed now
we are truly NEOPHYTES and we are asking some basic things here :
Can the differences in .35 - .40 and .50 be equalized or balanced out by changing props ?- should this be needed to equalize the chances ?
are the different powers available enough to make a big difference in speed ?
can we assume, with the differences, that the best PILOT/DRIVER can win ?
How does one set up a RACING COURSE in a lake ?
are races run to the right or in a left turn circle ?
Is a figure EIGHT course advisable or practical for a race with these boats ?
The lake is rather OVAL in shape and an 8 makes sense.
We should be ready to start this project in about one month.....FEB ?

no , otherwise you will either over rev , or over load the engine(s)

are the different powers available enough to make a big difference in speed ?
Pending on the engines , and condition , and if all the same ( basically ) yes , there WILL be a BIG difference in speed .

How does one set up a RACING COURSE in a lake ?
( man , I hate that I know this ... LOL )

Anyway . get yourself some gallon plastic milk jugs , tie a line thru them , silicone them up tight , get yourself some bricks , tie to the opposite end of rope , sink till they touch bottom , yet the jug is 3/4 afloat .
make at LEAST four of them , one for each turn . Then place as far/near as tou choose ( unless you want them racing legal distance , which is something I am not 100 per cent about )

are races run to the right or in a left turn circle ?
RC boat races are right clockwise ( that is why the rudders - on water prop boats , are on the right side )

Is a figure EIGHT course advisable or practical for a race with these boats ?
Pends on how "crazy' you want to get ... remember , those are ABS hulls and will not take a crash at those speeds , if two meet in the middle ... [&o]

if you want , simply make a kind of odd shaped track ... that way , it will take skill AND speed and then theres no chance of crashing ( well , at least I hope not , anyway - LOL )

Gotta remember , these hulls are VERY hard to flip , so , its gonna be more speed than skill ( unless the driver is REALLY bad driver ... LOL )

Also , glad you got that one too .... you guys are gonna be VERY pleased ....
Slap anything from a 40 up to a 60 on them ... the 40/46 will handle like a dream ... put anything larger , and watch out .... she's gonna SCREAM ... ( nice part though is it will handle like its set on rails . no flips , no blow overs ... just a WHOLE lot of fun )

NOW I HAVE THEM
I have driven one - the TEMPEST and I am putting two more together.
The reports I get seem to indicate these airboats are super great and I agree so far
then:
WHY aren't they produced any more ?
If they are so good why didn't the market accept them ?
There seems to be a great deal of silence about a good product
and I wonder why this is so !

Million dollar question there ...but , I guess thats true for airboats in general ....
None of the clubs accepts them either [&o][&o]
So , thats why Chris and Hal grouped together to do that airboat club that they have going .

WHY aren't they produced any more?
A. The original maker died.
If they are so good why didn't the market accept them?
A. Different strokes for different folks!!
His son still makes airboats under the name of DANES HOBBIES
