Default New Tunnel Hull - (LITNIN)

OK - I just finished a new boat, ready for testing. Now I just need some decent weather to get out and try er.
This thing is really light - Just foam- with a thin layer of epoxy on just the bottoms of the sponsons. The hull weighs about 1 pound !
Also it is a little longer and wider than the previous flatbottom I had this engine on, 14" wide x 26" long.
I will give a report on monday after trying it this weekend.

Well I fought off the snow and got out Friday evening to give it a try - All's I can say is THAT THING SUKS! It would not get up on plane and was threatining to tip over every time I turned around- heck even when I was trying to go straight! It just would not unstick I thing the sponsons could be another 1/2" wider. Anyways - the motor mount /everything is off it now and its found a comfy little final resting place next to 4 other has been airboats .

Try putting a peace of foam in the bottom to make it a flat bottom, its already built.
Worth a try to see if it handles better.

The experience I had was that if the sponsons were not deep enough , the engine would not be able to lift the boat onto plane .
Try the sponsons a little wider , or deeper . This should solve the problem . The hull is setting literally ON the area where there is supposed to be air . And without enough LIFT ( as in created with lifting water props ) the hull will not have enough speed to get on plane .
The only way I found to alleviate this was to make the sponsons deeper ( or wider ) , which then allowed the center section to be out of the water , when just sitting there .

I might just cut the sponsons off and glue a piece of coroplast on the bottom.
