Default Big airboat

Hi,

I'll build a big airboat.....about 2'x6' with a 45cc engine, but I looking for buildingplans.
Someone known where I can find sample plans ?
It's a problem if they aren't at scale.

Thx, Rob

Both Hal and Chris ( CAJUN GATOR and SELH-INFLICTED ) have some plans on their websites .
As to which one to choose , guess it depends on what you want to do and/or build with .

Also , IMO - that width is a little too skinny for a 45 CC motor ....

You can be right if yoy say *to skinny*, thats why I need the plans....this is my first airboat.
I need also a puhs-prop ~20x10, but in The Netherlands it's hard to get them.
Maybe I can use a smaller 3 angel prop ~18x8 ?

If your handy with numbers you can make modifications to this set of [link=http://cajungatorairboats.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=54]basic plans[/link]. scale it times 2

To scale it twice isn't muts, it will be ~2.5'x5'.......is this enough for a 45cc engine ?

I just got done building a large scale boat. I don't have plans, but the pics are good quality. Have a look at "[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3964321/tm.htm]50 inch[/link]" thread.
Also more pics [link=http://www.rc-airboats.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=50-inch-quarter-scale-build]HERE [/link] .

I think someone else is hooked on air boats !

hi Big Boat
Well for your scaling the numbers are a little off you need to convert it all to inches and multiply by 2 so ( 1'- 11 7/8" x 1'- 2 5/16" ) would be ( 23 7/8" x 14 5/16" ) multiplied by 2 would be ( 47 3/4" x 28 5/8" ) which is ( 3'- 11 3/4" x 2'- 4 5/8" ) its quite a bit different form what you said. If you have a set of plans and you what to scale them up to a certain size get the demotion that you want say 5'- 0†in length the plans say 1'-11 7/8" so convert both to inches and divide the 5'- 0†by the 1'-11 7/8" and you will have the number of what you have to multiply all the detentions by to have a 5' boat, in this case its ruffle 2.5 hope this helps. As for the size of boat you need with the 42cc motor I have no idea

Nice work Gator

I have to rescale, and recalc inch to cm.....pfffff
I can get a prop of 22" (=~56cm), width will be 22"+~8"(?) = 30"=~75 cm.
Leght 2x (3x?) width = 150 / 225cm = 50"/ 88" ?
I don't have a glue.....

Guess that you can just use the plans for the basic idea. A good size for a gasser would be 22" wide x 46" long x 3" deep.

OK, with some space extra for the protection of the prop it can be 24"x 50" x 3"....nice size [8D]
Now I can recalc the plans to decimal and gone build befor summer begins.

Just curious .. is that 45 CC engine you plan on using a chainsaw engine ? If so , most have two shafts and the one side would allow you to use a regular tractor prop rather than a pusher prop . That way , you would have more selections of sizes .

Yes you can build it that size. I recommend doing every thing that you can with out loosing too much strenght to keep it lite. The real only down fall with the BIG boats is that they have a lot of surface to grab the wind, and that they do need a large place to run.. The twin 2300 I have is 55" x 33" and if I'm not careful it will blow over. Fun site to see a 30+lb boat getting air born.
